"The work was performed extremely capably and produced an evaluation that should stand me in good stead as I appeal an excessive property tax revaluation. Akrivis provided me with an accurate, well documented report and took only seven days to do it. I am very pleased."

"Swanson appraisals are one of the best firms in the country. Iâ ve been in the industry for 26 years and wish I could use them in every state. You would have to search long and hard to find a company as worthy of your business. Their accuracy and careful attention to details in their reports are rare."

"The first meeting with Jeff I noticed he had a keen perception of people. He asked me pointed questions to understand what my needs and wants were. He showed me only a handful of condos before I found the place that was perfect for me. He even negotiated a lower price than I had expected to pay! Jeff also helped me with my loan and managed to locate a loan with a lower percentage rate on my 30 year fixed loan. The process was stressful since I was a first time home buyer. Jeff made it as painless as possible. He answered every single question without delay, patience, and was extremely knowledgeable. I will use Jeff again and will refer him to anyone looking to buy property."

"

I have used her service numerous times to have my assessment appealed on my house. The tax saved for 3 years of the assessment cycle with the second installment of my 2014 real estate tax bill is $2557.59. They are very professional and would recommend them to reduce your taxes. My brother who owns two apartment buildings also has used their services. Angie's List had a $50.00 coupon off of their services which reduced my fee to $291.04.

"Fundamental Property Management is who we worked with to rent a house in Westmont. We have lived here for almost three years. The house is great and we really like it. Moving in was easy and there were no issues. When things have gone wrong with the house, they were mostly on top of getting someone here to fix the issue. They are the go between between you and the landlord so it takes time depending on how responsive everyone is. We have most recently had to keep up with them taking rent out of our account. We were not charged a late fee but the online portal they use is not the best system. When we first moved in the landlord would be here occasionally painting the deck and had a lawn service come in the spring. For the past two years that hasn’t happened. We continue the upkeep ourselves. Overall I would say we are mostly satisfied. The only other issue is that it is hard to speak directly to someone so there is sometimes a response delay."

"I bought a deal on Angies Big Deal.
Scheduling went well.
They were a bit late showing up to the job but not a big deal.
The father was very responsive and assertive.  The son did what he asked.
The light was installed with a gap between the fixture and the brick wall, which they informed me of after they were done with all of my work. They told me to go buy silicone from Home Depot, which I did but the gap was so large (1" or more) that silicone won't work.  It was a real problem because there is electrical there and with weather, water/snow would easily get back there.
The PVC work was done well, and it wasn't exactly an easy thing to address.
Understanding this is a handyman service, i was still surprised at some of the things they were asking me to supply to do the work.  It felt like they were essentially just labor without relevant tools.
I also felt uncomfortable with them in general from a personality standpoint.

Real Estate Agents questions, answered by experts

Adding a wine cellar, wine cave, or customized wine storage of any kind to your property can add significant value if you eventually decide to put it on the market. Even if some prospective buyers are not wine drinkers themselves, having a wine cellar or wine cave makes the property more desirable overall.

Yes, high ceilings can increase your home's value when it's time to sell. According to some studies, homes with ceilings 9 feet or higher can sell for up to 6% more than homes with lower ceilings. Buyers often have a greater perceived value of homes with high ceilings because they appreciate the extra space and modern feel. While other factors like your home's location and overall condition are more impactful, raising your ceilings can be a worthwhile investment if you plan to sell in the future.

Yes, a well-maintained gazebo can increase your property's value and marketability. The most appealing gazebos to potential buyers are typically large, well-designed, and constructed from high-quality, durable materials. Extra features like built-in seating or electrical outlets can also be attractive. Conversely, small, flimsy, or run-down gazebos are unlikely to add value. While a gazebo can be a positive feature, it generally offers a lower return on investment compared to a deck. It's also worth noting that professional landscaping, in general, can increase a home's property value by up to 15%.

Yes, installing a tennis court can be a worthwhile home improvement project that adds value to your property. The potential increase in value can range from $20,000 to $150,000, and in some cases, the return on investment can cover more than 60% of the installation cost. However, the impact on value heavily depends on the size of your property. For homes with multiple acres, a tennis court is often a valuable amenity. In contrast, for homes on smaller lots, installing a court can decrease the property's value because it consumes a significant portion of the usable yard space. It's crucial to consider your property size and the remaining usable yard before proceeding.

Avoid using a home equity loan for non-essential or short-term expenses like vacations, luxury purchases, or temporary financial fixes. It’s best to reserve home equity loans for long-term investments, such as home improvements, that can add value to your property or financial position.
