"He put in a gas line so I could have a gas oven range. I'm a new home owner and Lee was very professional, courteous and honest! I had to search around for a plumber I could trust and was honest with me. I will be contacting him again soon for more projects with my new little fixer upper. I highly recommend Lee and Spartan plumbing!!"

"We had a major leak in our crawl space and Boise Family Plumbers identified and fixed the problem quickly and correctly. Thomas also noticed a few things that werenâ t to code and fixed those as well to prevent further problems. Very professional service and a reasonable price. A very good value for my home. I would highly recommend this company and plan to use them for any future plumbing needs."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can turn your water back on after you hire an emergency plumber and this professional completes the repairs. Your plumber probably will turn on the water for you, just to test the repairs and look for any other problems. Otherwise, if the plumber doesn’t turn it back on, it’s safe to do it yourself. Open the valve or knob slowly to prevent an unwanted rush of air from getting into your pipes.

Fix your leaking shower ASAP. By the time you realize your shower is leaking, chances are it’s been leaking for a while. Consider how often you use the shower to determine how much water has passed through the leak. Because shower leaks don’t fix themselves or get better with time, leaving them unchecked can lead to more damage and higher repair expenses. Use temporary fixes, but you should aim to have a professional repair your shower immediately.

Pipes are connected in a bathroom by a 3/4-inch to 1-inch line running from your water meter into your home. The line then splits, with the hot water line going to your water heater and the cold water line running into your home. The cold water line leads to the 1/2-inch water supply lines for your home’s toilet, tub, and sink. The hot water line runs from the water heater to all sinks and baths.

Yes, even though frost-free and freeze-proof faucets are designed to withstand winter weather, it is still recommended to cover them with an insulated cap, especially during periods of extreme cold. These faucets work by keeping excess water inside the home's heated space and using a downward slope to drain, but this protection can be compromised. For the faucet to work correctly, you must always disconnect any attached hoses before temperatures drop below freezing, as a hose can trap water and lead to freezing. Ultimately, covering all outdoor faucets, even freeze-proof models, is the best way to prevent frozen and burst pipes.

Most of the time, you can replace a kitchen sink without replacing the entire counter. However, if you’re replacing a large sink with a smaller sink, you’ll have to fully replace the counter because you’ll have a gap in the sink space area. But if your new sink is bigger than your old sink, your pro can simply cut into your counter to open up space for it.
