I am pleased as punch with the finished project. Have already told him he will be hearing from me for several future projects. I will also be recommending Equity Builders to friends and family. "The plumber initially used Tektite fittings and they didnâ t work. We went to the hardware store together and purchased Shark Bite fittings. They worked well. However, that added another 1-2 hours to the time to complete the repair. It would be better if Right Now Plumbing stocked the Shark Bite fittings."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

The most common reasons a toilet won’t stop running are a faulty flapper or fill valve, improper fill height, or incorrect chain length. Luckily, all these issues are relatively easy to fix with parts you can find at a local hardware store. You can also call a plumber or toilet repair professional to solve the problem.

There are many reasons why water pipes leak. The most common reasons include clogs, broken rubber seals that deteriorate over time, corrosion on copper, brass, or galvanized pipes, and damaged pipe joints.

You might also have a leak if your water pressure is too high (usually higher than 60 psi) or if your fixtures have a crack. Moreover, natural changes in the area around your underground pipes, like growing tree roots, flooding, or earthquakes, can cause leaky water pipes.

Fixing plumbing prevents water damage, conserves water potentially lost by leaks, and improves home convenience and efficiency.

Yes, you can technically use a utility knife or straight blade to cut through PEX pipe. However, this isn't an ideal method simply because you won't get the same clean cut that you'll get with a pipe cutter. A utility knife will likely create angles that weaken your push connections. If you use a utility knife, score the pipe with the knife along your marked line several times before making your final cut.

Yes, you can fix pipe threads. In fact, the process is the same as cutting new ones. You’ll need to use a pipe threader tool with the proper size die head for the pipe. Turning the threader over the damaged threads will clean up any damaged or worn-out threads in the pipe. If the pipe threads are too damaged, this process may not work, and you’ll need to replace the pipe.
