"Big shout out to Dil and Cruise for doing a splendid job . They were very courteous, patient enough to listen to my concerns and very friendly. The Job was to lift the concrete and seal the joint and cracks . Time will tell how well the seal will hold especially with colorodo weather but so far happy the result. Thank you Trasher."

"Bull Construction’s language is primary Spanish. The owner had an employee translate. Even then I was a little hesitant to hire, but I liked their plan making 4 smaller steps coming into my house compared to two 6” rise steps. They were able to start the following week from the time they accepted the job. By their request, I had to buy the railings, but they would install them. I’m naive and didn’t realize all the separate parts that came with railings. He never charged more to assemble the railings. The bid for the job was under $400 for one contractor and $1,000 for another. I was still hesitant because I wondered if I was going to get what I paid for. Well, I couldn’t have been happier! For someone with a history of back and ankle surgeries, I am so thrilled I hired them. I don’t think I could be happier!!! Yes, sometimes you get what you pay for, but in this case, I got the equivalent to a Black Friday Deal!! Hire them. You won’t regret it!!!"

"Have used this company twice and would highly recommend. First time they leveled a patio that had sloped towards the house which was causing water problems. That job was done above and beyond expectations. Second time they raised the front walk from the driveway to the front porch with excellent results. Absolutely no mess with incredible results. Very willing to work with you."

"I contacted four companies about my project. A 1 Concrete was the only company to answer. We made an appointment on a Thursday, for the next Monday. Dan was very prompt and gave us a quote on the spot. He gave a date when he would call to make the appointment for the work, again, right on schedule. The guys were done in under 3 hours and it looks great. I offered water, due to a 95 degree day, but they had a cooler. The guys did a great job and cleaned up and even watered my flowers that were next to the concrete work......."

Concrete Mudjacking questions, answered by experts

When planning concrete leveling in Des Moines, consider the area's expansive clay soils, which swell and shrink with moisture. It’s best to schedule work during dry seasons, avoiding the unstable conditions of the spring thaw. Before any work, call Iowa One Call to locate underground utilities. Also, check with the City of Des Moines for any local permit or drainage ordinance requirements for your project.

Helpful?

During concrete leveling in Des Moines, unexpected issues can arise from the local soil. Expansive clay can create larger voids than anticipated, requiring more fill material. In some cases, the soil itself may need stabilization to prevent future movement. Professionals might also discover that multiple, staged lifting sessions are necessary to avoid cracking the slab, or that drainage improvements are needed to protect your foundation.

Helpful?

Completing a concrete leveling project in Des Moines offers immediate safety by eliminating trip hazards and preventing water from pooling and freezing into ice slicks. Long-term, it protects your foundation from water damage and extends the concrete's lifespan, which is a significant benefit given Iowa's harsh freeze-thaw cycles. This proactive repair helps avoid the much higher expense of full concrete replacement down the road.

Helpful?

In Des Moines, professionals prioritize concrete leveling based on risk. Safety hazards like uneven sidewalks and steps are addressed first. Next, they tackle water management issues, such as slabs directing water toward foundations, which is critical due to local expansive clay soils. Structural concerns like garage floors are then handled, followed by aesthetic improvements to patios or walkways to boost curb appeal and property value.

Helpful?

For concrete leveling in IA, polyurethane foam is highly recommended. Its lightweight nature won't add stress to the region's expansive clay soils, and its waterproof properties are ideal for local moisture conditions. It also performs exceptionally well in Iowa's freeze-thaw cycles. While cement-based slurries can be effective for filling very large voids, polyurethane offers superior durability for most residential applications in this climate.
