"I had called a different company, scheduled a pro to change the main spigot outside which was damaged & rusty. I made an appointment for 12pm-4pm and about 11pm the pro called and said he couldn't make it today & would I reschedule for Monday. I called his office and told the scheduler that he had called to try to reschedule & she offered to get another pro. I said "No, I will try another pro". I called Ragsdale and the pro came straight over, changed the pipe line from inside to outside, added a new spigot and was done in less than an hour. I would highly recommend this plumber and I will only call them next time!! Thanks Ragsdale!"

A two-way cleanout can help if there’s already a clog, but the best strategy to prevent one is by not rinsing grease, oil, or fat down your drains, not flushing or rinsing coffee grounds or egg shells down your drains, flushing only human waste and toilet paper (so no diapers, period products, bathroom wipes, or paper towels), and using drain guards on all of your drains.

If you have a sink stopper, it can feel more challenging to clean the drain without removing it, but here are a few simple steps:

  • Pour ½ cup baking soda into the drain using a funnel

  • Pour 1 ½ cups vinegar into the drain

  • Close the sink stopper for 15–20 minutes

  • Open the drain

  • Pour 2 cups of boiling water down the drain (be cautious as boiling water can damage some types of pipes)

If the drain isn’t unclogged, repeat the process.

Biodegradable drain cleaners use naturally derived ingredients, such as baking soda, vinegar, and boiling water, which bacteria and other microbes can break down. Unlike conventional cleaners that rely on corrosive bleach (sodium hydroxide), biodegradable options are gentler on fixtures and less harmful to the environment. Because they don't release harmful gasses, they are also safer to use, especially in households with children, and do not require the same safety precautions as bleach-based products.

To keep window wells from filling up with water, you need to stay on top of maintenance. Remove debris as it fills up, and regularly loosen the gravel at the base if it’s become compacted. You can also reslope your yard to make sure water flows away from the window well (and your home’s foundation), and you can even install a window well cover to prevent debris from building up. You can try several easy methods to unclog a drain, one of the easiest and most effective of which is to use a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. This will help dislodge and dissolve the clog to move it down the drain pipes. Pour 1/2 cup baking soda into the drain, followed by 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Dump several cups of boiling water (or hot water if you have PVC pipes) into the drain and let sit for up to one hour. Run hot water to clear the drain.
