"Bryan called me within 30 minutes of a requested quote and gave me an instant price and next working day installation date/time for the work I requested. He arrived on the date/agreed time, scoped the work to be performed and began working. He continuously worked until the job was 100% complete. He installed electrical outlets in four (4) rooms of my unfinished basement and one (1) external decor light fixture next to my back door. After completion, Bryan labeled my electrical breakers and outlet covers to ensure perfect identification. He then, thoroughly explained the electrical installation process he performed and asked if I had any questions. Prior to Bryan leaving, he began cleaning up wire and wood debris but I insisted to clean up the debris myself. Bryan showed absolute professionalism and was very courteous throughout the entire project. He completed the work expeditiously and his price was very reasonable for the amount of work performed. I will request his services again and gladly recommend him to others."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, but our analogy with the water hose doesn’t really work here. You see, electrical flow isn’t constant: It ebbs and flows like waves, coming in pulses of power. Hertz measures the rate of change in the flow of electricity, or how often it ebbs and flows. For example, 60Hz means that the electrons pulse through wiring 60 times per second. When they are pulsing, they’re in a brief retreat. Almost all United States equipment is rated for 60Hz.

An outlet can trip because the circuit it’s on is overloaded, meaning the devices plugged into it are drawing more power than the circuit can safely carry. Another culprit could be because a power surge from a storm or accident caused a problem with your local electrical grid or there’s a short or a fault causing power to run through the circuit in a dangerous or unplanned way.

The National Fire Protection Association reports that almost half of reported electrical fires are caused by electrical distribution and lighting equipment. The main culprit behind these fires is often frayed, worn, or faulty wiring, particularly in closed-off and concealed areas like attics, where fires can start and burn undetected for long periods.

No. Do not use a 14-gauge wire on a 20-amp outlet. A certified licensed electrician would know that the National Electrical Code (as per Section 240.4(D) subsection 3) requires 14-gauge wires to be used with a maximum amplitude of 15. Therefore, you should only use 12-gauge wires on 20-amp outlets.

Yes, electric fences need power to operate. They are powered by either a battery or an electrical outlet. In heavy snow or extreme rain, or if the power goes out, your electric fence might stop working. Knowing how to test an electric fence is important for figuring out if the fence is still functioning properly.
