"Alonso and his team are by far the BEST that anyone can hire to come into your home and get an excellent job done. Treats your home with respect. He installed crown moldings and picture frames in the foyer, crown moldings in upstairs hallway, media room and masterâ s bedroom and a coffered ceiling in the family room. He is very caring, punctual, professional and delivers an excellent service with a smile. He removes all furniture and pictures from the work area and covers them. He covers the floors to protect them from any dust or paint. They work very neatly and clean, pays attention to detail and is very meticulous. All furniture are put back in place when the work is complete. He shares his ideas and make recommendations for design and choice of material to get best results for my project. I highly recommend Alonsoâ s General Carpenter, LLC anyone who needs his service. You will be happy you did! Above all his price is very reasonable and I wish I could rate him with a 10."

"My parents and I hired Jeff Wilbanks to repair their home after filing a water damages claim through their insurance. I found his company on this Home Advisor site and reading through reviews. Jeff contacted me back very promptly and we discussed the needed repairs. Jeff was truly an answer to prayer after many months of having to struggle with the insurance claims process (Allstate is deplorable). We talked on multiple occasions to make sense of the insurance estimate and make selections to put my parents house back in order, and my parents were very pleased with him and his subs. They did an excellent job with insulation, drywall repair, new carpet, new LVT, painting, trim work, door replacement, toilet and faucet replacement, closet repair, and so much more that Iâ m sure Iâ m missing. He is very trustworthy and kind and I know he went above and beyond for our family. The house looks great and he did it quickly, considering the process with insurance outside of our control. Thank you Jeff! You have our highest recommendation and appreciation!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Penny tile should be sealed to protect the grout from moisture and keep stains from damaging the look of the tile. If penny tile is in a humid or high-traffic area, like a bathroom, kitchen, or entryway, it needs sealant. Any type of tile and grout is best maintained with a sealant reapplied by a pro every one to two years.

Replacing tile flooring can take a few days for a pro, but larger rooms will need more time. It takes eight to 12 hours for a tiling pro to remove old grout and tiles across 100 square feet. Then, it will take about four hours to prep the subfloor for tiles and another eight to 10 hours for a pro to install new tiles. Your tiling project may take up to a week, depending on the size of the room.

Yes, you can tile over existing tiles in a bathroom, but it is not always recommended. For this method to be successful, the original tile surface must be clean, flat, and free of damage such as cracks, unevenness, mold, or mildew. While tiling over existing tiles can save time and money, there are potential drawbacks. The new adhesive may not bond properly, and the process adds extra weight to the wall or floor. Additionally, the increased height of the surface could interfere with door clearances. For the best and most durable results, removing the old tiles before installing new ones is generally the better option.

You can, in theory, tile your fireplace hearth with most tiles. However just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. For example, it’s much better to use unglazed tiles because glazed tiles are more resistant to cracking under extreme heat. Porcelain is more heat-resistant than ceramic, but you can still design the hearth as you like by putting the most heat-resistant tiles directly under the fire and, if it matches your style, add more decorative tiles further from the center of the fire.

You can let the tile sit without grout. Don’t panic if there’s a delay between installing the tiles and grouting. A substantial stoppage isn't a problem, provided you keep the tile surface clear of dust and debris. Also, avoid walking over less stable ungrouted floor tiles as they are more prone to premature cracking and shifting.
