"They were prompt and so pleasant. Even changed my flood lights that were burned out at no extra charge (I had purchased the lights intending to change them myself at some point). Would highly recommend Brooks Electrical Solutions!"

"What a great young man. He was extremely prepared, knowledgeable, and quick. Great work hooked up an outdoor enclosed electrical outlet thru my home into the electrical box and without having to shut down, loss of power, to any of my smart home devices. Usually have to reprogram the home devices & he was so exceptional not one device in my smart home setup was affected great job.... Reasonably priced great deal. Even looked @ issue with the ceiling fan for the bedroom. For the fan Install and some electrical work to be done since its an older home. But he took the time and crawled up there to inspect the job. I will most definitely recommend and use him ALWAYS. Junius you are my guy. If your reading this and need electrical work please CALL this young man you will not regret it. Great Experience and Great Service and Couldnt have been more Relieved .... I 100% recommend this guy. Yes again do yourself a favor on the next electrical job you run into, I mean it, call HIM ......"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

No, not all thermostats require a C-wire. Older manual and programmable thermostats typically do not need one. While many smart thermostats do require a C-wire to function correctly, some models can operate without one, often at the expense of certain features. A C-wire provides a constant source of power, which enables the thermostat to stay connected to Wi-Fi and keep its display screen lit on-demand. If you are upgrading from an older thermostat to a smart model that requires a C-wire, you may need to install one first for it to work as intended.

Some portable cooktops are compatible with standard 120-volt outlets, but most induction (and electric) ranges and stoves need a dedicated 220- or 240-volt circuit and 40 to 50 amps to work. If you are replacing an old electric range with an induction one, you likely already have the proper outlet, but it’s worth checking with a local appliance installation company.

No. Blue wires and black wires are different. Even though both are used as hot wires, they serve different functions. Black wires are far more common in residential properties. They are always hot, can be positive or negative, and usually carry electricity from a power source to an outlet. Blue wires have a specialized usage in residential properties, generally as traveler wires, and are more common in commercial properties.

If the fan doesn’t have a switch, connect the white wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the fan; connect the green wire to the ground wire; connect both black wires; and connect both blue wires. If yours has a switch, the white and green wires are connected the same way. However, connect the ceiling’s red wire to the light’s black wire and the ceiling’s black wire to the fan’s black wire.

An air conditioner’s watt usage depends on multiple factors, including the type of AC unit, its size, and how often you use it. With that said, most central air conditioners consume between 3,000 and 3,500 watts. Meanwhile, window AC units use 900 to 1,400 watts, and portable air conditioners consume 2,900 to 4,100 watts.
