"Accent Roofing is an absolute professional operation. They replaced my roof that was replaced in 2008 by your typical storm chasing roofing companies. From start to finish they did exactly what they said they were going to do once I decide to use them for my new roof. The roofing system they use is second to none as well as their team of professionals that did the removal of the old roof and the installation of the new roof. From start to finish they had representatives on the ground and on the roof constantly keeping me updated as to the process, any damaged or rotted decking to the completion of the new roof and ensuring the roof system was being installed to the manufactures specifications. Throughout the process they were constantly taking pictures with a drone that they use to capture pictures of the removal of the old shingles, any damaged or rotting decking to the complete installation of the new roof. Once the job was completed a representative from the office came out and inspected the finished work and as well as wanting to ensure I was completely satisfied with the process. Bobby was my sales representative and was an absolute pleasure to work with. Bobby represents the company with absolute professionalism! I highly recommend Accent Rooofing! Thanks Accent Roofing, Joe"

"From the very beginning, Scott Gunter, the Hixon Company Representative, came to our home well prepared and with plans for an outdoor screened porch and to have a new roof installed. Scott delivered as he said he would, on time, and the best workmanship we could afford. Once here, theHixon crew went right to work. They were on time, quick, but yet, efficient. We couldn't be more happy with the roof. We did install a quality roof with architectural shingles. It was done in two days. There were many, friendly and efficient workers, all here at the same time. They worked very hard and were relentless in their efforts to please my wife and me."

"Using Atlas Roofing for our new roof was an excellent experience. Grayson is super helpful with explaining the process and communicating with our insurance company. He made sure we had a very good quality roof material and I never felt pressured. The roof was done in one day. The team did a great job at prepping and cleaning up debris. I would recommended Grayson at Atlas Roofing for any of your roofing questions whether itâ s old or in good condition but damaged from a storm."

"We recently had our large chimney removed by Legacy Family Roofing, and I couldn’t be more impressed with their work. They tackled the job with incredible dedication, working over 12 hours in 100° heat to remove three layers of rock, brick, and concrete. Their pricing was reasonable, and they were upfront, honest, and knowledgeable from start to finish. The quality of their workmanship was outstanding. They arrived on time, worked hard, and left the area thoroughly cleaned up. What really stood out was how they went above and beyond — even addressing and fixing underlying framing issues we hadn’t known about. Legacy Family Roofing exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for professional, high-quality work."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

16-gauge galvanized steel staples with a minimum crown of 15/16 inches or 24 millimeters are occasionally used to install shingles. However, most shingle manufacturers or residential building codes don’t recommend staples as a roofing fastener. Roofing nails are preferred in most cases, especially in areas that get a lot of heavy wind.

TPO roofing can last anywhere from 15 to 30 years, or an average of 22 years, but you can extend its life expectancy through proper roof maintenance. For the best chance at realizing the longest life span possible, keep tree branches trimmed so they’re not in contact with the roofing material. Inspect your roof regularly and repair any damage immediately.

Yes, you should seal and cap an unused chimney to protect it from damage. Sealing the structure helps prevent moisture damage, which can lead to issues like cracks, spalling, efflorescence, and damaged mortar joints. Capping the chimney is also crucial to prevent blockages, damage from invasive critters, and downdrafts, while still allowing for proper air ventilation to manage moisture. For the best results, consult a chimney professional to select the right type of chimney or flue cap for your home. It's also wise to continue with annual chimney inspections to maintain the structure's integrity.

Building code allows 24-inch on-center spacing for roof trusses. However, you can install them on 12- or 16-inch centers to handle large loads or other exceptional circumstances. In cases such as covering a wide span or supporting alternative roofing materials, where a structural engineer needs to evaluate or create a design for your trusses, the plans will indicate the spacing.

Though roof coatings can last up to two decades, it’s a good idea to recoat your roof every four to six years. This is especially important if you have a built-up roof, which is vulnerable to moisture issues. Inspect your built-up roofs annually to make sure they don’t need a new coat.
