"Dalton Home Center did a full kitchen remodel with quality cabinets and granite countertops. The employees were very professional and helpful throughout the duration of the project. The installers kept the areas clean and went above and beyond to assure the job was perfect. They were knowledgeable and able to answer and explain any questions asked. Will be using the company again for the next remodel!"

"We hired to remodel our guest bathroom due to a leak. All went well and completed in a timely manner. Very professional and patient (changed my mind last minute on floor tile pattern...and grout), but still able to get it done. Bathroom looked great!"

""Outstanding Work and Professionalism" I am absolutely blown away by the exceptional work done by this team on my tongue-and-groove ceiling installation in my garage/carriage house. From start to finish, they exceeded my expectations. Accurate Quote: Their detailed quote clearly outlined materials, labor costs, and the timeline—and they delivered on every promise. Timely Execution: Despite my aggressive timeline, the team showed up promptly at 7:45 each day and worked until 5:00, completing the project on schedule. Flawless Craftsmanship: The ceiling looks incredible. The attention to detail is impeccable. Professional Team: Everyone was polite, respectful, and a pleasure to have around. They also did a fantastic job cleaning up after themselves. It’s rare to find contractors who combine skill, reliability, and professionalism at this level. I couldn’t be happier with the results. Highly recommend!"

"Some guys build decks and porches, and then there are the professionals. Let me outline for you my definition of a “professional” as Cedarwood Forest falls into this category. First and foremost there’s the painstaking attention to quality. I caught Cedarwood’s team numerous times triple-checking what was being built not only met the exact specifications but took those little extra steps (meaning more time at their cost) to ensure what they were building reflected the work of the top craftsman they are. Professionals - meaning they continuously thought outside of the box, thinking three steps ahead to make improvement recommendations using their experience to make the end-product even better. Professional - using top-grade materials but also being practical to use materials when appropriate that helped us meet our budget. Professional - always standing behind their work. Even Cedarwood makes the occasional error, but the difference is they identify the mistake before we found it, and re-work the task at their cost to make it right. Professional - Getting it done on time. No false timelines are promised, instead outline the expectations and equally important, keep us in the loop as to bumps and changes that come along. They understand communication with us is critical. Professional - not the least expensive but more than a fair price reflecting the superior quality product they deliver. These are the differences and why we chose Cedarwood Forest instead of “a guy who builds decks”."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Save money on your basement finishing project by making cost-effective decisions such as minimizing structural changes and avoiding costly construction revisions. DIY simpler tasks such as painting or basic cleanup to reduce labor costs. You can also opt for energy-efficient fixtures and materials that may qualify for rebates or tax incentives.

Yes, barndominiums can have basements. Barndominiums are typically built over concrete slabs, so barndo basements are not very common. However, it is possible to include a basement in a barndominium blueprint as long as you’re building completely from scratch. Barndos can have the same types of basements as traditional homes, including full or walk-out basements.

Walkout basements cost more than other kinds of basements, and can also increase your risk of leaks as well as a loss of insulation, leading to higher heating and cooling costs. Improperly installed walkout basements may lead to structural issues with your foundation, so ensure you’re working with a contractor who has extensive experience with this kind of basement.

Yes, most general contractors require an initial down payment. A reasonable deposit is typically between 10% and 25% of the total project cost, although this can vary by project size and location. This upfront payment helps the contractor cover initial costs like materials, permits, licensing, and hiring subcontractors. The remaining balance is usually billed according to a schedule outlined in your contract, often tied to project milestones or completion dates. Be cautious of contractors who ask for a large deposit of 50% or more, as this could be a red flag for a scam.

It is common for a contractor to ask for a down payment before starting a project, especially for jobs that require purchasing materials and equipment or hiring a crew. The deposit amount can range from 10% to 50% of the total job cost. While a request for up to 50% is not unusual, a contractor should not ask for more than that, and you should never pay for a project in full before the work has begun. To protect yourself, always discuss payment terms before starting and have a written contract that outlines the project timeline and expectations. Additionally, be sure to hire reputable contractors and check their licensing and insurance before the project begins.
