"Alirio was very punctual and professional. He did everything he said he would and more. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again if I needed to. He built humidity banks in my basement, and lined with a water vapor barrier, also treated basement for mold, installed a storm door (even touched up paint on it for me!), fixed a drain spout, cleaned my gutters and built a drain off the sunporch to discourage water run off near the house. Received a 10 year guarantee on work and the price was perfect. Thanks for the great service! A+++"

"Overall, it was a good experience. AAA put down a vapor barrier and installed a Santa Fe dehumidifier with sump pump. The result is that we can now use the stand-up basement/crawlspace to store things under the house without ruining them. This is the part that you need to know. The installation was not without problems. First, they broke an A/C drain pipe, second, they cut a sprinkler controller wire while running a PVC pipe. Here's my take, accidents happen but how does the business respond to these issues? Well, Donna was very quick to send her team out to correct the problems and they even paid for the damage to the sprinkler system. To me, that's top notch customer service. Any business can make a mistake, but how they handle it is the mark of a good company. Every time I lift the roll door and go into the basement now, I'm amazed at how cool and fresh the air is down there. No more mildew and no more smell."

"The Allstars 3, LLC just finished the complete remodeling of my kitchen. I selected The Allstars 3, LLC as my design-build contractor on the strength of other satisfied clients’ recommendations, their professional presentation, and their grasp of the special complexities of design and construction in residential remodeling work. The final contract price was in line with the budget I developed with The Allstars 3, LLC early in the design phase. I never regretted the decision to go with The Allstars 3, LLC. During the entire course of the job, The Allstars 3, LLC used extreme care to minimize inconvenience to me and to insure that the work was of the highest quality. Any problems with the design, or misunderstandings that developed during the job, were minor and were quickly resolved to my complete satisfaction. I am extremely pleased with the final result and I'm sure that the value added to my home far exceeds the cost of the work. I strongly recommend The Allstars 3, LLC to anyone needing any type of home repair big or small. Sincerely, S. Fed"

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Rebar is an essential part of reinforcing a basement floor, as not having it can impact its structural integrity. It helps absorb the tension factors that contribute to cracks in your floor and strengthens its load-bearing capabilities by evenly distributing the weight. Not including rebar could lead to an unstable floor, so don’t skip it!

Making a window in a basement larger costs an average of $4,200. You’ll need to pay an average of $550 to have a structural engineer plan the project, $500 to $1,500 for the installation labor, and an average of $2,200 for the excavation and window well installation. The remainder will go toward pulling permits, installing trim, and repairing drywall on the interior.

The cost of finishing a basement is about $18,400 on average. As you can see, the framing portion of this project costs less, because you’re essentially just dealing with laying the foundation for a finished basement. The finishing portion of the project involves a lot more intricate work and design, as well as high-end materials.

While bathrooms and kitchens are nearly equal in terms of renovation difficulty, kitchens are the most challenging. Kitchen design, layout, electrical, and plumbing needs all depend on each other for the success of the entire project, and mistakes early in the project can cause trouble later on.

Some older homes have toilets in the basement to combat sewage backups. This type of toilet, also known as a Pittsburgh potty, acted as a safety valve over the incoming sewer line. If a line backed up, it would back up into the toilet because it was the lowest fixture in the home, keeping it out of sight and away from the finished areas of the house.

Basement toilets were also used by workers with messy jobs, like those who worked in coal mines or steel mills. This way, they could clean up and avoid tracking dirt through their home.
