"Trevor has been an amazing contractor who has helped us through the process of installing a large interior door for an office. He has helped ensure the space was properly prepared for installation of the door. The other contractors who have assisted Trevor have also exceeded my expectations. They have been extremely detail oriented and have done everything to ensure the best outcome. I would definitely work with Trevor for any future projects."

"We hired Dalton Home center for a remodel of our home, they were amazing to work with , communication was excellent, workmanship was excellent quality. We had our floors refinished, unused basement finished, appliances installed. It was a big job and we added things along the way as well. Prices were competitive. We recommend them highly."

"A fairly substantial renovation, per our wallet, was done on an old farmhouse for us. As expected with such a project unanticipated items appeared as demolition progressed. We also added items as the project progressed with no hesitation on their part. I would suggest putting any change orders or items of concern in writing for memory reasons. However, items of concern were addressed to satisfaction. Project was completed timely and satisfactorily. Overall, very satisfied."

"Amanda was really very good!  At first I was very skeptical, thinking why did I pay money to just speak with someone on the phone about my kitchen remodel project... but after just a few minutes of her addressing some of the issues/questions I emailed to her earlier, I knew it was worth it.  It was very clear that she knew her business and she gave me several ideas that I had not even thought about.  I told her that I would definitely recommend her to friends and I will very likely use her again myself for my next home project!

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is possible to turn a regular basement into a walkout basement. Doing so involves excavating the land around at least one side of your basement foundation, installing retaining walls to create a permanent below-grade area outside your home, and then cutting into the foundation to install an exterior door that leads out to the new space. This is an expensive and time-consuming project, but it can add a lot of value and utility to your home.

It is common for a contractor to ask for a down payment before starting a project, especially for jobs that require purchasing materials and equipment or hiring a crew. The deposit amount can range from 10% to 50% of the total job cost. While a request for up to 50% is not unusual, a contractor should not ask for more than that, and you should never pay for a project in full before the work has begun. To protect yourself, always discuss payment terms before starting and have a written contract that outlines the project timeline and expectations. Additionally, be sure to hire reputable contractors and check their licensing and insurance before the project begins.

When choosing materials for finishing basement walls, consider factors such as moisture resistance, durability, and fire resistance. Opt for materials specifically designed for basement environments, like moisture-resistant drywall or cement board. Insulation with vapor barriers can help regulate temperature and prevent condensation. Consider using mold-resistant paints or coatings.

Research and consult with experts to select materials that are suitable for your specific basement conditions and intended use. Prioritize quality and compatibility to achieve long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.

Professional remodelers streamline the process, manage permits, and handle renovations efficiently—significantly mitigating risk while maintaining standards.

Adding a bathroom to your basement can increase your home value since homes with multiple bathrooms sell for more. The return on investment (ROI) for a basement bathroom is 50% to 75%. The actual return varies with your home and location. Adding a half bath to your home increases the value by 2.9% while finishing a basement increases the home value by 6.6%.
