"Absolutely excellent. After trying to contact four other companies that either had full voicemail boxes (30) would never get back to me, I luckily came across Electrical Fixers. Could not be more pleased! From the office staff to the electrician who did the work (Chris) they were extremely prompt and professional. Would give 6 stars if I could. I have experience as a residential electrician (years ago) so I can truly appreciate Electrical Fixers."

Customers say: Quality work

"Always Connected Electric was prompt, and professional. I definitely recommend this company. He hung a ceiling fan, two sconces, and a pendant bathroom fixture in my historic home. He even took his time and assembled them. He is on the cutting edge in the delivery of services. I will be using him again soon."

"WB Lightning Rods did an excellent job installing lightening rods on our home. The owner stayed onsite the entire time to supervise the work. He took extra care to plan the rod and cable placement to ensure the proper protection and retain the aesthetics of our home. His crew were knowledgeable, polite, neat and efficient. We could not be more pleased with the results."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Most ceiling light fixtures only have a black, white, and green wire, but in some cases, you’ll also find a red wire in the box. This is a second hot wire, like the black wire, and is included for ceiling light kits that have a fan.

A circuit breaker flipping off when it detects an overloaded circuit isn’t a problem, but flipping the switch frequently can damage it and eventually cause an electrical hazard. If you’re going on a long vacation or leaving your home for the season, you should avoid turning off your circuit breaker to prevent electrical damage to your system.

Sprinkler valves typically have 16 AWG or 18 AWG wires. AWG, or American Wire Gauge, is the standard measurement for wire gauge sizing in the U.S. The gauge is the thickness of the wire, with higher AWG numbers indicating thinner wires. You can find the gauge measurement in your sprinkler system’s user manual or on the sprinkler manufacturer’s website.

A faulty light switch can trip a breaker due to circuit overload or a short circuit. A faulty light switch may not always trip a breaker, so don’t use that as your only sign that something’s wrong. Always investigate the cause of a switch that isn’t working properly, feels hot to the touch, or is making unusual noises.

Outlets do wear out, usually within 15-25 years, but they can fail even sooner than that —sometimes in a matter of years. If your plugs always slide out after you put them in, this is a sign your outlets need to be replaced. Additionally, if your outlets are damaged, cracked, discolored, or regularly tripping the circuit breaker, they may be at the end of their life.
