"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"From start to finish the project progressed smoothly. Every craftsman that worked on the project was professional, courteous and prompt. Tasks were finished on time. The lead man on the project was an excellent communicator, possesses a positive attitude and great work ethic. He met all challenges although he was working on a home constructed 40 years ago. He did a beautiful job. We would not hesitate to call on Bath Planet Atlanta again."

"The Clark’s did a great job turning a secondary attached garage into a “babe cave” for me! I even added in a surprise hall that they worked out for me. They are professional and stay true to commitments. I just re-hired them to do some work on my parents’ home."

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Professionals handle home building by addressing life-safety hazards and active moisture intrusion first. In Covington, contractors prioritize weatherproofing and sealing the building envelope before the humid summer months arrive. Next, they complete structural framing to pass required inspections before running any electrical or HVAC lines. This strict sequence ensures your structure remains safe, dry, and fully compliant with all local building codes.

Helpful?

Functional home building addresses structural, electrical, or plumbing systems and always requires permits and licensed contractors. In Covington, functional issues like a failing roof or HVAC system demand immediate attention due to extreme summer heat and humidity. Conversely, cosmetic work like painting or flooring requires no permits and allows for seasonal scheduling. However, exterior cosmetic changes in historic districts still demand formal approval before starting.

Helpful?

When undertaking home building in Covington, expect interconnected systems. Opening walls exposes hidden moisture issues or older wiring that requires immediate attention. Because of the hot, humid climate, changing your insulation directly alters your HVAC load requirements. Additionally, shifting clay soils mean foundation updates impact plumbing lines. Local inspectors require multi-trade inspections for this exact reason, ensuring all overlapping systems function safely.

Helpful?

Successful home building in GA requires materials built for high humidity and severe weather. Select vapor-resistant barriers and heavy-weight roofing products to withstand strong storms. Always use pressure-treated lumber for ground contact to prevent moisture damage. Because of expansive clay soils, install post-tensioned concrete slabs or deep footings. Finally, choose high-quality insulation that meets state energy codes to keep your interior comfortable year-round.

Helpful?

During home building in GA, you must make several key decisions. You are responsible for signing permit applications and navigating local historic district or HOA approvals. You must also select your foundation type based on soil conditions and decide between a septic system or county sewer connection. Finally, state energy codes require you to choose specific insulation values and window ratings to meet strict efficiency standards.
