"My HVAC Tech, Alex K, & his crew of (2) other Techs installed my new Carrier HVAC system back in April (2020) & after the Inspection from the City of Alpharetta. All of CoolRay’s Employees are superb & extremely friendly from David Poulos (Sr. Consultant) selling me the awesome energy-efficient system, to the Lead Service Technician in Alex K., & his (2) partners that installed my Carrier HVAC back in April. Meanwhile, CoolRay’s Permit Coordinator in Jennifer Richardson was SUPERB! She has terrific Customer Service skills, is extremely professional as well as friendly, she’s very easy to talk to over the phone while she goes above & beyond to help explain to me the answers to the questions that I had for her & therefore, she helped put me at ease. Sarah Clement was also very helpful by contacting me via my cell & via email in helping set up the minimal work that needed to be performed in order to pass the inspection by the City of Alpharetta. All in all, a FABULOUS GROUP OF EMPLOYEES for those that I mentioned above w/ CoolRay & these individuals should be recognized in some way?!! CoolRay should be thrilled & honored to have these individuals working for them, especially Jennifer Richardson, Sarah & Alex K. ??? Sincerely, A very satisfied Customer in Mike Nale ? (Alpharetta, GA)"

"I'm on a tight closing schedule and have yet to close. My realtor recommended Michael and he was scheduled in 48 hours and submitted the report the following 24 hours. Complete turn around in 72 hours. I would highly recommend using Michael for all your inspection needs. I was unable to attend the inspection due to my work schedule but I am in the new construction industry and felt very satisfied with his findings after reviewing my report!"

Energy Efficiency Auditing questions, answered by experts

The extra insulation helps reduce energy costs by minimizing drafts and temperature exchange between indoors and outdoors.

A small sump pump running infrequently uses an average of 10 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month. The average cost for electricity is $0.171 per kWh. The size and use frequency affect how much electricity it uses. Sump pumps average one-third to one horsepower (hp) motors. One hp is equal to 745.7 watts. Watts multiplied by the time your pump is running divided by 1,000 equals your average kWh. Multiply kWh by your average cost of electricity. In areas with high rain or a marsh basin, the average cost can be as high as $15-$25 a month.

Electric bills tend to be lower in spring and fall because people use less electricity during these seasons. Milder temperatures allow for less use of heating and cooling, unlike during winter and summer, which usually bring more extreme temperatures.

While many states require all new construction to undergo blower door tests, it’s not a requirement for existing homes. But in both cases, a blower test helps confirm that the contractor has sealed the exterior, that the type of ductwork installed is functioning properly, and that your home is as efficient as possible.

Services by electricians can quickly get expensive, but there are a few ways you can save money in the process:

  • Bundle multiple jobs done at the same time to save on trip fees or flat fees for individual projects.

  • Get at least three quotes for service to find the best deal.

  • Buy fixtures, switches, outlets, and other materials beforehand to avoid product markup.

  • If you feel comfortable with it, have an apprentice or journeyman complete the work under the supervision of a master electrician. These electricians in training tend to charge less per project.
