"They did a good job of cutting and removing the tree limbs at a good price and they were fast, but one of the tree limbs broke a large concrete flower urn and they did not tell me about it. Their English was very limited, I told them numerous times to not go on the neighbors property and climb his trees, but they did it anyway until I told them they are trespassing and the police may come, then they understood."

After a big storm, you may not be sure if a tree was struck or not. Look for the telltale long scars, like strips or gouges in the bark of the tree, running in sometimes jagged lines down the length of the trunk. Evergreens typically don’t need pruning, unless branches or limbs are damaged, diseased, or harboring pests.

Pruning trees during the summer can be a bad idea because the new growth will take place during the hottest months of the year, which can stress your tree out. Similarly, pruning during the early fall can be a bad idea, too, because you’d be stimulating new growth when most trees are aiming to go dormant. 

Pruning recommendations will vary by the type of tree, but generally, waiting until winter to prune your trees is a good idea.
