"Alex and crew of CRA Services did an outstanding job from pressure washing my driveway, walkway, deck and house to painting the house deck and front porch. They were efficient, meticulous and detailed in all aspects of the job. They are fair and reasonable for what they quoted and worth every penny. "I had a great experience with First Choice Tree Specialist. They recently did a tree removal on my property, and the entire process was smooth from start to finish. The team was professional, efficient, and clearly experienced at what they do. They showed up on time, completed the job safely and thoroughly, and left the area clean afterward. I was really impressed with their work and would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of tree services. Great service all around!"

"They did an excellent job cutting down the trees I needed and it storm the next day and I felt so happy. The scary tree was gone. I just ask the guy to cut a branch and he said he would and didn't. That is my only complaint. But overall I would recommend them and hire again."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Leaving a dead tree can expose your other trees to potential diseases, pests, and fungi, and it can also be a hazard. If your tree is dead, then you should hire a tree maintenance service to remove it. Cutting down trees is extremely dangerous, and a professional can ensure no one gets hurt and there is no damage to your property. Tree removal costs between $200 and $2,000 and will prevent future issues and keep you and your property safe.

Yes, cutting a tree's roots can cause it to fall, particularly if major support roots are severed. In extreme cases, trimming roots can affect the tree's structure and stability. Many crucial roots are located just below the soil's surface. If you make severe cuts to roots more than 2 inches in diameter, you risk impacting the tree's water flow and its ability to withstand severe winds or storms. Even cutting roots less than half an inch in diameter under or outside the tree's canopy can cut off its water supply, causing it to decline, die, and eventually topple.

There are a few general rules to follow that will help you prune your trees correctly. One of the most important rules is to prune during the correct season for the type of tree you have. Typically, pruning should be during late winter. For younger trees, you should not remove more than a ⅓ of the tree's crown when pruning. Also, remember to remove dead and diseased branches first, then proceed with pruning the rest of the tree.

Yes, pruning makes trees stronger because it fosters proper growth, weight distribution, and balance of the crown. By increasing the structural integrity of the tree through pruning, it’s less likely to experience disease, pests, broken limbs, and storm damage. Pruning the right branches and limbs is key to improving a tree’s strength and balance.

You can shape a cherry tree by trimming vertical branches, dense branches, and intersecting branches. Your personal aesthetic comes into play, as well. If you want to simply thin and shape the tree, you can get away with trimming the aforementioned parts of your cherry tree. If you want to shorten branches, however, consider thinning cuts, which alter the length of the branches while encouraging light penetration, new buds and shoots, and a structurally-sound shape.
