Customers say: Quick response

"Very professional company. The did much more than what I expected them to do. Very good pricing. Adam and Mike are very good people and their workers were very polite and helpful. My wife was very impressed with their service. I recommended them to a neighbor and she had them do some tree removals for her. She was also very satisfied. Mike is an Arborist so he identified problem trees that most other people would have missed. I normally cut down my trees and many neighbors have been my customers. So I know what they did was top notch quality, at a GOOD price. I highly recommend this company."

Small jobs welcome

"Fantastic job! I would definitely recommend Grind South. Robbie, the owner was prompt, communicated exactly how he would be doing the work and his price was great! He cleaned up and even used a shield around each stump as he removing it (I have never seen that be used in my past stump removal jobs). You will be very pleased with his work. I will definitely recommend Grind South to family and friends and I now know who Iâ m calling if I need any more stumps removed!"

"Parker and his crew are careful and skilled arborists, able to work in well established gardens with a minimum of disturbance. They removed a large tree beside my house and limbed up pecan, birch and oak while doing no damage to Japanese maples and perennials planted beneath. They also saved an old pecan by gently removing a strangling overgrowth of ivy from it. The end results were almost magical, more sunlight and airflow and better balance and form. Transformative in the best way."

"I hired the company in order to have 5 acres cleared and graded. I trusted it because few years ago I hired them for a mulching , demolition and excavation projects. The work is always performed flawlessly, they start and complete the work without interruption. That is a very important factor for us. The initial estimate I was given was what the total price at the closing of the project. This is what I respect greatly. Hire them with confidence."

"Rivera Landscaping did an outstanding job in building my retaining wall and patio area under my deck. He was very professional throughout the project and was more than willing to answer any questions my wife and I had while they were working. The reason why I can't give them a 5-Star rating is because I felt their cleaniness of the work area was not up to my standard. On the day they brought dirt in, it was placed in front on my house. They transport the dirt to the backyard and at the end of the day, I had a big dirt stain in the street in which I told them needed to be cleaned prior to them leaving. Bottom line the family and I cleaned it."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Signs include dead branches, growth over structures, diseases, pests, or roots impacting hardscapes.

Absolutely. These steps are significantly easier, too, especially when it comes to preserving the root ball and moving the palm tree. However, you will want to make sure the tree has plenty of fertilizer to establish itself and start growing. Supports may also be more important, as it can take extra time for a potted palm to spread out its roots. If you are transferring a palm to another pot, you’ll want to move up a size or two to a larger pot. Make sure the pot has excellent drainage to keep the palm from getting waterlogged.

A few signs a tree may be dead is if the leaves are dead and there are no signs of new blooms. You can also perform a scratch test on some of the branches to check the condition of the cambium layer beneath the bark.

If it is green, it is still alive, but if several are dry, brittle, and brown, the tree may be dying or dead. Always consult an arborist before assuming your tree is dead because you may be able to save it.

Trees aren't big fans of moving, and they do go into shock during a transplant. Although most carefully thought-out tree transplants see the tree recover from the shock just fine, there is always a risk of having an unsuccessful move. Proper preparation, timing, and diligent aftercare are crucial to minimize the risks when transplanting a tree.

In the case that a tree is growing directly on your property line, the cost of maintaining the tree is shared and is the property of both owners in common. In this case, all decisions regarding the maintenance of the tree must be made jointly, and both parties must agree on a course of action. You will need to agree with your neighbor about the cutting of any roots before you carry it out, and your neighbor must also consult with you before doing any trimming. Coming to an agreement with your neighbor about any shared trees ahead of necessary trimming and maintenance will make this process much simpler.
