"Hail damage occurred in March of this year and I contacted Braswell Construction as well as 2 other local roofing companies. Chris Gaugler contacted me asap and came out to the house. The other two roofing companies I never heard back. Braswell Construction contacted my insurance company and worked out all the details. A week later I had a brand new roof with gorgeous colored shingles. Everyone in the neighborhood stopped by and literally knocked on the door to inquire. Chris Gaugler was onsite and available for questions anytime to the very end. The crew only took one day to do the house, extended 4 car garage and well house. Photos attached and it really makes a difference."

Family owned business with over 24 years of experience handling all your Handyman jobs around the home and business. Back Yard renovations- outdoor living with kitchens, patio, pergolas, and decks. Kitchen and bathroom renovations on a budget.

"Service provider stated that she will charge $800 for her labor and be able to complete the work agreed to from 3/14/24 to 3/15/24 but was unable to complete the job. The job included soundproofing the open basement ceiling areas, finishing/ enclosing the ceiling with drywall and molding and installing panel doors in laundry area in basement as well as put plywood/ drywall to enclose open space next to the basement laundry area. She worked on the ceiling part on 3/14, 3/15 and 3/18 instead. She send a message at 9:32pm on 3/18 saying “I can’t do any more”. She then got upset when we questioned the botched workmanship in the ceiling which was incomplete and left in a haste without discussing anything else with us. She did not say anything about paying her, fixing the damaged HVAC hose, cleaning the areas she worked in or if she will come back to complete the job verbally. Instead she threatened to put a lien on our home. She damaged part of the HVAC airflow as well as totally left the floors full of debris. As well as left the adjourning bedroom unclean and full of left over building supplies. The job was not completed and it looks totally botched. We would like to have the HVAC hose that she damaged repaired or replaced as it may be disrupting airflow and in turn possible raise our heat bill in the meantime. We would like to be partially charged or not charged at all for this job as it has not only totally inconvenienced us, it was botched and also incomplete. This job will need to be totally redone and I paid for building supplies which was in access to $1000 which I would like to be reimbursed for. We would also like to have the area that is now filthy and scattered with debris and the building supplies used cleaned."

"Stair runner was installed crooked and nails poking thru carpet. I have been trying to get it fixed for 6 months. Do not sign anything they give you unless you are 100% satisfied and you have read the paperwork. The second crew that came out to look at the issue tried to get me to sign a form. They said "it just says that we came out". That is not what it said. It said that the problem was fixed and that there are no more issues. They show up and say they will come back, then they don't come back. They took the remnant of my carpet to bind and "fix" the problem when they come back. Then, they didn't come back. And after each time they don't show or show and don't fix it, I get a text asking if I'm satisfied. Each time, we call and say we are not satisfied. There is no end to this experience. I am going for a full refund from Home Depot and asking them never to use this company again."

"I am very unhappy with my gutters and leaf guards. They were not installed to the level that I expected and paid for. The support and service has been terrible. Timeline: April 13, 2023 Sales pitch - Jerome is a great salesman. Very convincing. I agreed to pay a price that was twice your competitors because I was convinced that this was the best system. I met with 5 different vendors, and did a lot of internet research. Leaf Filter was last and convinced me at the sales pitch that this was the perfect solution despite the inflated price. April 14 Install began early. I asked about the angle at which the gutters were installed. Was told that the installers had levels in their pocket, but could “do it by eye” because they are so experienced. Two 40’ plus gutters were installed only angling down to one downspout, despite the sales agreement that specifically noted two downspouts based on that length. At my insistence, the second, promised downspout installed on each of the two long runs. Did not change angle of gutter to accommodate. I observed that some of the gutter guards had collapsed and were lower in the back of the gutter than the front which would allow water to run back and leaves to flow into the gutter. Told that this happens and not to worry about it. Installer reached in and pulled up the guard section I noted and used the friction of the screen material to hold in place. Told that this is a good solution. When I called Jerome to complain, was told that it is OK, because if they get leaves in them then the warranty will cover. That evening, took 4’ level and measured the fall of the gutters I could reach. Very inconsistent, in some cases falling over 1/2” in 4 feet, almost an inch in 10 feet. The internet tell some that this is too much. April 17 Called customer service, expressed displeasure. Told them that I was in Europe till the 22nd. Set appointment for the 25th for an inspector to come and review the install with me. April 18 Inspector arrives at my house. My wife calls me in London. I am forced to talk about the issues over the phone despite being clear that I want to be present. I ask for the appointment to be rescheduled for the date and time originally set (8am-12pm, 25th April). Technician agrees. April 25 No one from Leaf Filter comes for the scheduled appointment - although I took 1/2 day at work to be present for meeting. Called customer service, was told that they had someone there the week before so this appointment was canceled. Expressed my displeasure. Told that I would get a call from Manager. April 27 Receive call from “Tex” at Leaf Filter. Proceeds to talk down to me and explain (using a lot of repetition and small words) that I am mistaken and my complaints are not valid. Conversation becomes heated. Tex agrees to send someone to inspect the gutters on May 1. May 1 Inspector arrives. inspector agrees that there are not sufficient hangers holding up the gutters, so the leaf filters are not properly supported. Agrees that the angle at which the long gutters are installed is not correct. Agrees that the correct fall of the gutter should be between 1/4” and 1/2” per 10 feet. Tells me all of the low gutters are properly angled (although they are not). Assures me that Tex will be in touch to discuss their findings and propose a solution for both the missing hangers as well as the faulty angle of the installation. May 2 Someone from Leaf Filter shows up at the house while I am at work and does work on my house without my permission or knowledge. My wife discovers them as they are finishing whatever work they decided to do to my house, without my approval or permission. They leave. I have no idea what they did. I expected to be deliriously happy with these gutters based on the very lofty price and your online reputation. I should not have to even consider whether they are correctly angled to allow proper water flow - my salesman assured me that the angle is carefully measured by the installers. I should not have to ever worry about whether, due to faulty install, I will have leaves in my gutters."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

While flooding is always cause for alarm, certain situations are considered more urgent than others. If there is water pooling anywhere in your basement, it’s time to call a local emergency plumber ASAP. Standing water in your basement could be from a plumbing leak or from cracks in your foundation—either situation can go from minor to major very quickly. On average, the cost to hire an emergency plumber ranges from $100 and $500, depending on the scope of the repair and when you call them—calling an emergency plumber on the weekend or on a holiday will cause the rate to jump.

A small trickle with drops every three seconds is enough to relieve pressure and ensure there is movement in your pipes. The cost to run a drip is minimal, usually less than $1 a month. The potential savings from flooding and water damage in your home could be in the thousands.

There are a multitude of causes for low water pressure in outdoor spigots. Normally, the water just gushes right out of them, but a soft trickle happens if the spigot itself is old or damaged. If parts are misplaced or worn down, the water pressure won't be as high as it should be. More complex causes include ruptured water lines and problems with the water meter.

A water hammer refers to the banging or knocking sound you hear in your water pipes after you turn off your faucet or when your washing machine or dishwater fills. This happens when highly pressurized water suddenly stops moving in your pipes due to a valve closing or your well pump shutting down quickly. Try adjusting the pressure setting on your water pressure tank—it should be below 50 psi (pounds per square inch). Or have a plumber install a water hammer arrestor.

Small clogs will eventually break down, but only if the clog is made up of toilet paper or waste and this can take time. If you don’t have another bathroom, it's best to fix a clogged toilet with what you have available. Solid objects flushed down the drain, however, require manual removal.
