"Words cannot describe how happy my husband and I are that we found Advanced Tile & Marble Installation Inc. :) Krzysztof and Jarek were so great to work with; their professionalism, punctuality, expertise, and kindness was so refreshing, especially since it can be so difficult to find reliable and genuine contractors nowadays. Krzysztof and Jarek transformed our master bedroom and master bathroom suite into a modern, sleek and clean oasis. Each day, they arrived exactly at 8am and would spend roughly 8-9 hours working diligently to complete this project. They truly did an absolutely amazing job and I will most definitely be referring them to my friends and family. The prices are EXTREMELY reasonable and actually much lower than the majority of contractors these days who don't put nearly as much attention to detail and care into their projects like these guys do. I would 100% would hire them time and time again! Thank you!!! - Alice, Gianni, Kiciu & Sascha"

"Lake SIde TIle and Remodeling was a great find! Mike walked through my bathroom and before he left our initial meeting, I had a good handle on the cost and timeline of my bathroom remodel project. Mike completed the remodel on time and within the original estimated cost. Mike was here every morning on-time and kept me aware of what was to be accomplished each day. Mike's tile work is impressive. He took an old and tired bathroom (with tub), gutter the entire room, relocated some plumbing, and created a beautiful modern bathroom with a walk in shower that looks like it is off the pages of House Beautiful! We are thrilled with all of the finishes on the custom shower, the new tile floor, vanity and fixtures. Remodeling can be a hectic endeavor, but Mike made the project enjoyable. He took the time to set up exhaust fans to keep any construction dust in the house to a minimum, and when the remodel was completed, all of the debris was carted away and there were no signs of the construction having been done other than the new bathroom. I highly recommend Lake Side Tile and Remodeling. You won't be disappointed. You will not find a more ethical and fun person to work with. I can't wait to engage Lake Side again for my next remodeling project."

"We enjoyed working with Tomas (Tom) on a master bathroom project. He repaired the grout in my parent’s shower and applied non slip floor treatment to our slippery ceramic tiles. We’re happy with the results and have other ceramic projects lined-up."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Your floors should be completely level for tile, otherwise you risk damaging the tiles in the future. When there are even small gaps or hills in the subfloor beneath the tile, this puts more pressure on the tile when you walk around on the floor. With repeated traffic, the tiles are at risk of cracking, and you’ll have to deal with tile repairs sooner than if the floor was completely level.

Installations typically take 1-3 days, depending on area size; repairs are usually completed sooner if the issue is localized.

The average cost for tile installation is about $2,000, with a typical price range between $500 and $6,500. On a per-square-foot basis, you can expect to pay between $5 and $45 for installation.

Several factors influence the total cost, including:

  • Installation Site: Costs vary for different areas. Common project costs are: kitchen floor ($870–$6,100), countertop or backsplash ($500–$3,000), bathroom floor ($300–$2,400), or shower wall ($225–$2,000).

  • Tile Type and Quality: The material significantly impacts price. For example, standard ceramic or travertine tile can cost about $1 per square foot, while luxury options like marble can be as much as $350 per square foot for the material alone.

  • Project Size and Complexity: The total square footage, the complexity of the pattern, and the shape of the tile (e.g., square, rectangle, hexagon, mosaic) will affect labor and material costs.

  • Site Preparation: The amount of prep work needed, such as removing old tile or installing a new subfloor or backer board, can add to the final price.

  • Tile Characteristics: The tile's durability rating and porosity can also influence the price.

  • Location: Labor rates vary by geographic location.

For best results, you should remove the toilet in a bathroom before removing tile or installing new tile. If you don’t remove the toilet, it will be harder to fully waterproof the tile around the toilet, which could increase the risk of mold growth or plumbing leaks. If you have trouble removing the toilet, hire a plumber to help.

To ensure an even and unbending surface to lay tiles on, you’ll typically need to put a subfloor under a tile floor. Fiber cement backboards are the most common choice, but using plywood is also possible. Don’t neglect this step, or you could risk water damage and grout or tiles prematurely cracking or crumbling, especially in an area with high foot traffic.
