"Sean Dorosinski took the time to review the building site with me in detail, and offered suggestions regarding the proposed location, architectural style, and floor plan.  The result I required was a permit-ready set of plans for the project, i.e., something I could provide to contractors to bid, and which would pass Fairfax County permit review.  Sean worked with me throughout the design process, taking into consideration our existing home architecture, budget, materials, and the overall utility of the structure.  He provided both hard copy and soft copy of the final plans.  I am acting as my own general contractor, and the plans have been accepted for review by the county.  I had contacted several other architectural/design firms listed in Angies List, but the others based their pricing on a percentage of the overall project cost, which was not what I wanted.  Sean was very easy to work with and accommodated our ideas and changes as we worked toward the final plans/drawings.  I would definitely use his services again.

"They did a beautiful job and are all are top notch guys. They are nice people and are easy to get a hold of. They took out a partial wall, put in new cabinets, counter tops, lighting and re-textured the walls and the ceiling. In the bathroom they replaced everything including the flooring. I used to be an insurance adjuster and I have seen a lot of work done in my previous years. This company is one of the best. I would highly recommend them and I would definitely hire them again."

Our sustainable architectural services support clients that are moved by their physical and emotional surroundings and seek affordable and honest expressions of their needs. The design process seeks to push the envelope of enclosure using the tools of practical forces to create aesthetic solutions suitable for today and tomorrow's inhabitants. Each project seeks dynamic interaction with its surroundings while expressing the integrity of its construction and materials. Generally, we strive to create simple, well-articulated forms that have an enduring meaning with materials that provide lasting value and low maintenance. Each integrated, holistic design solution seeks to unify the design interests of the client to find the sweetness of life merged with their changing lifestyle.\n\n We explore together spatial alignments that benefit from established site views and provide designs that benefit from natural day lighting, natural ventilation, grid-tied solar energy, geothermal heating or cooling systems and reuse of stored grey water for site irrigation. In this context, each project compliments the surrounding community's built expressions and adapts to the technological advances that are leading our culture towards an electronically connected network of balanced living and working conditions for family growth.\n\nOn this Web site you will discover innovative designed homes of remarkable strength, economy, and beauty, brought to life by a distinct architecture combined with a source of pollution-free energy. Each built-in biosphere, in gradual but constant motion, draws energy from the sun, and /or geothermal stability from the ground, creating a temperate climate that supports the primary living spaces. These holistic design expressions below represent some of the project solutions for our clients.\n\n

"I have used their services on my home and a rental property. They are always very specific on what they will do and on cost. They will also point out other areas that need to be addressed and repaired. I have left them alone in both my properties without any reservation and have never been disappointed in the many jobs they have done for me."

Architects questions, answered by experts

You should have an architect involved in your project from the very beginning. They’ll be able to direct your vision into workable plans, and they can advise you on potential problems right from the start. You may be able to save money by not using an architect, but larger projects will go much more smoothly with an experienced pro directing the process.

British architect John Nash is credited with creating the Italianate style of architecture. The style was further popularized in the U.S. by landscape architect Andrew Jackson Downing and architect Calvert Vaux. The style spread across the U.S. due to Downing’s popular book on the style and the availability of plans and materials due to the mass production of the Industrial Revolution.

When conducting space planning, building codes and regulations need to be considered. As long as you are taking them into account and discussing them with the architect, you should be able to do your space planning appropriately.

While Craftsman-style houses are bungalows, cottages typically aren’t, though they can be. But they also differ in other stylistic aspects. For instance, cottages usually have simpler designs and painted woodwork.

A construction manager is particularly useful in the case of a large-scale build with custom design elements, so it’s usually worth it to hire one. They can help manage your budget, maintain quality control, oversee timelines, and navigate unexpected hurdles. While construction managers are pricey, they can actually save money in the long run by identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring the project stays within budget.
