"This is a family operation and Jerry & Shannon really pay attention to their business. They showed up on time for the appointment to give me an estimate. After talking to Jerry for fifteen minutes I came to realize that he knew what he was talking about and this was the company I needed to seal my rather large driveway. I hired them on the spot and we agreed on a date to perform the work. Again they showed up on time to seal my driveway and promptly went to work. Driveway sealing can be a messy job but they were clean. neat and very organized. They left no overspray, no mess, no fuss, and cleaned up completely. These guys are pros and I will recommend them, without hesitation, to my friends & neighbors. Do yourself a favor - call Asphalt Armor first!"

"Amazing. From Joey who came to my home and made the estimate and ultimately the sale, to the out-of-this-world fantastic crew that installed in one day. The crew consisted of Harold, Johnny, Dee and Fave. I recommend you ask for them by name. They not only arrived a few minutes early to begin the day’s work, but they were very professional and cordial. Harold, the crew leader, explained what they were going to do and answered all my initial questions. Then they went to work what seemed like non-stop first under a blistering sun and then late afternoon under rain showers. I fully expected them to stop work and come the next day due to the rain but Harold told me they would wait until it lessened and they would finish that same day. Sure enough they finished under light rain and without rushing. In fact, Harold was quality checking under the rain with Johnny and making numerous Adjustments to ensure the fence was as perfect as possible. Dee and Fave were busy cleaning up all remaining materials, debris and packing their truck. Amazing work all around and I will hire Dave’s Fence over and over again and will recommend them hands down to everyone that I know. Fantastic indeed. Dave’s you need to keep, promote, reward and do anything in your power to make sure that Harold, Fave, Dee, Johnny and Joey remain in your company. They represented you extremely well and they made you look good and will certainly get you more business on the many referrals you will get as a result of their fabulous work. Thank you... Martin"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

You should not attempt to install your own driveway. Whether working with asphalt or pavement, this is a complicated project that requires special equipment. Talk to some nearby asphalt or paving professionals and discuss your particular needs—it’s a good idea to get a few quotes and look at the company’s past work.

Asphalt edging secures the sides of your driveway to prevent crumbling and cracking over time. Most driveways have edges with a 45-degree grading. This helps transfer some of the stress from the asphalt to the ground underneath. If your driveway doesn’t have proper edging, the pressure from your car may break down the edges over time.

New asphalt typically needs 24 to 72 hours to dry before it can handle light foot traffic and careful driving. Although it may appear solid after a few days, the full curing process, where the asphalt reaches its peak strength, takes much longer—generally from 30 days to a year.

During this extended curing time, the surface remains relatively soft and can be damaged by heavy vehicles, sharp objects, or high temperatures. To protect your investment, it's best to avoid parking heavy machinery on the asphalt until it has fully cured.

The exact time required for drying and curing depends on several factors, including the weather, the specific asphalt mix, and its thickness. For the most accurate advice tailored to your situation, consult with your asphalt contractor.

Gravel is one of the few driveway materials that can handle rain the second it’s installed. Unlike asphalt, which needs days to set, or concrete, which requires weeks to cure, gravel is ready as soon as it’s compacted. It’s naturally permeable, allowing water to drain straight through—with no risk of pooling or surface damage. Gravel driveways are one of the most affordable, at $1 to $3 per square foot, and can also last upward of 100 years.

To maintain their strength, asphalt driveways and parking lots need to be sealcoated once every two to five years. You may also need to reapply paint striping every few years as it fades to ensure drivers can safely navigate the parking lot.
