"I am very happy with the results. The installation process was smooth and professional, and the technicians were courteous and knowledgeable. They explained everything to me clearly and answered all my questions. They also cleaned up after themselves and left no mess behind. The new HVAC system is a Carrier model, which is one of the best HVAC companies of 2023 according to U.S. News & World Report."

"Prompt response & scheduling. Ours was a big job of 31 vents which took 5 hours. Team of four never stopped & were very courteous. Inspection of 2 HVAC systems showed that replacement was necessary in one & we were able to get that done, the next day!! Highly recommend this business. Thank you!"

"I spoke to Rafael the owner on the day after Christmas as my HVAC system would cool but when we switch to heat it would kick the circuit breaker. Rafael wanted to come that day but I wanted the next day, the technicians were on time wire their mask. Found the problem was the thermostat then a problem in the circuit breaker box. The price was great that I hired them right away without getting another company to come over. They fixed the problem so far I am happy the only issue was communicating with the technicians but living in South Florida you get used to that, but their kindness and professionalism made up. I will definitely keep their number for any other job."

"Very well. We had our new unit installed within a week of signing the agreement. They showed up on time and completed the installation very quickly. I will definitely use them again. This is the second time we called them. Last summer our air conditioner quit working on Memorial Day. Seacoast was the only company who would come out and fix it on the holiday."

"Bobby and Jeremy restored my faith in HVAC techs. They performed a comprehensive diagnostic of the AC instead of just scanning the unit with a leak detection gadget for 20 seconds and stating "I don't get commission for this but you need to consider purchasing a new AC." They made me feel at ease as they listened to my concerns and answered all of my questions then explained in depth the issue that I had with my AC. A few hours later all is well and I no longer feel like I'm sleeping at the base of an active volcano. Thanks again guys. I highly recommend Tropic Air. P.S. They are very clean and they wear shoe covers. 👍"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes. In fact, not only are AC tuneups worth it, but they’re actually necessary to keep your air conditioner in good condition, improve its efficiency, and potentially prevent major damage. Experts recommend getting a tuneup at least once per year. In most cases, you’ll want to schedule it during the spring so that you can address any issues before the hottest months of the year.

Yes, having mismatched evaporator and condenser coils in your AC system can lead to serious issues. For instance, it can result in higher monthly energy costs as the system runs longer to compensate for the mismatch. This mismatch can also put extra stress on the system, compromising its efficiency and longevity.

Along with that, mismatched coils can lead to higher temperatures and humidity levels in the home. What’s more, using coils of different sizes may violate the manufacturer's warranty, as they are designed to work synergistically, and any mismatch could lead to repairs and system failure.

To keep your air conditioner in good working condition, you should have it serviced by a professional at least once per year, ideally in the spring before the cooling season begins. If your AC unit is 10 years or older, consider servicing it twice a year (once in the spring and once in the fall) to catch potential problems early and help it reach its full lifespan. During a service visit, a technician will inspect, clean, and replace parts as needed. Regular maintenance helps avoid costly repairs. As a DIY task, you can also clean the evaporator coils annually.

If the air coming from your AC unit is cool but never quite cold, there are a few reasons this might be happening. For starters, it could signal that your refrigerant levels are low. If there are no other indications of this particular issue, like hissing noises or frozen refrigerant lines, anything from dirty filters to damaged condenser or evaporator coils could be responsible for the problem.

Set your house temperature between 55 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit while on vacation, depending on the season. If it’s winter, don’t go below 55 degrees. In the summer, the best AC temperature for energy savings is no higher than 85 degrees. You can save anywhere from 10% to 15% on your energy costs by adjusting the temperature while you’re away. If you have a smart thermostat, set up vacation modes for each season. On your way home, turn off vacation mode to allow the home to warm up or cool down before you arrive.
