"The difference between Sky Painting and other companies is that they take pride in their job. Pablo, the owner, does the paint job himself along with his coworkers. The job quality is consistent because they donâ t subcontract to others. Pablo is professional and detail oriented. I have used Sky Painting for exterior and interior painting jobs. They did excellent jobs on both at reasonable prices. I highly recommend Sky Painting."

"Steve is great and after his team painted one bedroom to start, I hired them again for most of the home interior (excluding bathrooms). Petra Painting was consultative & communicative, which really complemented their fair prices. It was a total crew of 5 people for the walls w/ high ceilings, and a 6th member was brought on to paint the ceiling and walk through for final touch-ups."

"Ryan and Melissa provided A+++ service and were extremely professional and thorough. Ryan painted a bedroom and assembled furniture at my home and the quality of work was impeccableâ ¦ so much so that the following week I recommended him to an associate and he painted their entire condo. Again, another impeccable job with a tight turn around time which Ryan took on with ease. They too were extremely happy and satisfied. The end results were SUPERIOR. I highly recommend this amazing pair and will definitely call on them for any and all painting and home repair jobs around my home. Hands down â ¦ BEST in the business!!! Thank you Ryan and Melissa!!"

"I hired Sean from Big Family Painting on a recommendation. They were amazing! Powerwashed and sealed my roof, Spray painted the exterior with Sherwin Williams Loxon Self Cleaning Exterior Paint to help with ease of care, and returned to correct a very small imperfection in the paint on my storm doors. Painted my storm doors white until ready to replace. You will love Sean's attention to detail, communication and ease in carrying out your wishes to beautify your home. I highly recommend."

Small jobs welcome

"Henry is professional, punctual and did a great job. He came in person to give a quote on a few small painting-handyman projects. Others just wanted to do via photos. His team came put on time yesterday and completed the work well. We have asked him to return for additional work. We would highly recommend Robledo Painting !"

Painting questions, answered by experts

Acrylic latex paint is the best option to use on your outdoor wrought iron fence, because it holds up well against the elements. Use a high-quality, exterior-grade paint specifically designed for use on metal. You can choose between spray paint or regular liquid paint. As for primer, it's best to use an oil-based and rust inhibiting option before painting your wrought iron fence.

Opt for an interior wood stain that is rated for your type of wood. Consider your personal style preferences as well as the overall use of the room when choosing a color. Remember, the color you see at the store may look different on your actual floors once applied. This is why if you have the chance, it’s helpful to test a few options on a scrap piece of wood in the room first. Once you narrow it down, you can test a small patch on an inconspicuous area in the room to see it on the actual floors.

If your cedar fence is new, don’t delay. Unlike treated pine, you don’t need to wait months for the wood to dry out for it to accept stain. With cedar, the sooner, the better. Seal cedar within two weeks of installation to prevent the sun from fading its red color.

Select based on wood type, climate tolerance, and personal preference for color and finish, with choices like oil-based stains for longevity.

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.
