"Overall installation went really well. Karl constantly shows ingenuity on any project he works on. He seems to be able to look at a picture and easily re-create it. For example: I handed him 2 newel posts a 8 foot piece of base molding, an 8 foot 5" wide piece of MDF, some bead board, a side panel and a base kitchen cabinet... and he built a beautiful kitchen island. Bottom line- you give him the materials and the idea and he will bring it to life. On top of everything else, Karl is sincere, honest and shows up as promised. He is definitely the exception among your usual lot of South Florida contractors.

"It went great. He was a consultant and not a sales person. I explained the issues that I was having with my pool deck and enclosure. He explained why they were occurring and offered a solution. We had planned on also "sealing" the pool deck after the cleaning, but he said that he now advised against the sealing since it would do little based on the type of pool deck tiles that we have. The enclosure and the pool deck now look brand new. He also advised me on some simple maintenance that I could do to extent the life of the cleaning before needing another one."

"It went very, very well. I had contacted Dan and set an appt a couple of weeks prior. Dan is a true professional and someone who actually cares that things are done correctly. Dan even came back the morning of the closing to handle another minor repair that wasn't initially discovered by the over zealous home inspector.

"Painting of house was fantastic. Their team worked fast, masked non painted areas and painted very nicely. Grade.A
Driveway needed touch-up but they communicated well and came out to make repairs. Grade A Back patio powerwashing was done very well but epoxy sealing still let grass come through, overall a grade "B" for this part. These guys were very professional from the initial quote, through the job and in follow up on minor driveway issues. The workers were very professional and respectful. Thanks for a great job!"

"The repairs were done quickly and confidently, the pricing was extremely fair. The contractor searched out some metalworking shops to do modifications to meet my friend's needs. Since I am remote, I was Expecting for more difficulty in getting this work done. I was pleasantly and happily surprised by how well everything went."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

Deck boards should be spaced no more than three-eighths of an inch apart. This is enough space to allow water and small debris to pass through without collecting on the surface, but not enough to create a tripping hazard. Certain materials, like pressure-treated wood, shrink over time, so they may need less space at installation.

Yes, you can build a deck over your outdoor HVAC unit, but you need to leave at least 5 feet of vertical clearance above the unit. If you don’t want your deck to be that high off the ground, you could build a floating deck in another part of your yard—again, as long as you leave at least 4 feet of horizontal space between the deck and your AC unit.

How long it takes to install composite decking depends on the size of the decking material, the skills of the person installing the deck, the number of people helping, and how much prep work needs to be done before you can begin. Generally speaking, it takes anywhere from a few days to several weeks to build a composite deck.

Yes, Ipe is more expensive than Trex decking—both in terms of materials and installation (plus, Ipe trees are endangered). On average, Ipe decking costs $10 to $25 per square foot, while Trex decking costs $5 to $12 per square foot. Because Ipe is harder to work with, the price of installation is higher, too. For Ipe decking, you’ll pay between $20 and $45 per square foot for labor. However, with Trex decking, the labor costs range from $8 to $22 per square foot.

While you can use various materials like sand or even just soil, gravel is widely considered the best option to put under a deck. It provides excellent drainage and is resistant to water, fire, and pests. Gravel also helps anchor the soil to prevent erosion during heavy rain and acts as a built-in weed blocker, reducing regular upkeep. Furthermore, it is simple to spread, available in various textures and tones, and adds a polished look that complements any deck design.
