"We loved working with the team at OPM. Chris went above and beyond in communicating with our family, answering many questions and being patient along the way. He never used high-pressure sales tactics and was prompt and personable. We ultimately selected OPM over other competitors because of the way we were treated - as a human with real concerns about our water and wanting to provide the best for our family. Additionally, we were provided a fair price with a quality product. The installation technician Bowe, was professional and personable - we enjoyed working with him on the day of installation. We are enjoying having delicious water in our home we can drink straight from tap without concern."

"They came within a couple of days. The completed the work all in one day. There were no problems. Well worth the money. We have city water and we didn’t think we’d need a water softener, but our water condition has improved and we are happy."

"It's hard to find somebody you can trust these days everybody wants a quick buck and do very little, I can't begin to tell you the Contractors who have ripped us off over the last 10 years but every now and then you find one who actually cares and B&M Wells Pumps and irrigation certainly was a Great choice we got lucky. He arrived at the exact time he said he would and called in advance before arrival. He quickly discovered the problem and initiated a plan for repair. He was very methodical when beginning the repair. I noticed he double checked each step and cut no corners. He also maintained a very positive up beat attitude through out the process. Unlike any plumbers we have used in the Baker and surrounding counties he actually was very knowledgeable and knew what he was doing, and was great at explaining well and pump operations. I highly recommend Brandon (B&M Wells, Pumps & irrigation) for your home repair needs. Thank you Home Advisors for the recommendation. Might I also stress to the people PLEASE read the reviews. "Brandon Bing and Steve Lorenz are owner-operators and I found both of them to be skilled in their trade, honest and hardworking The installation of the water heater and solar panels went well and any bumps were smoothed out. I am initially disappointed in the Solar array's electric impact but I have a few trees that I need to take out and I still need to get my FPL net metering installed. At times I am producing more than what I consume so until I get net metering installed I cannot capitalize on overproduction. These comments are in no way a reflection on All American Solar for their work ethic or products. In fact, the array is expandable so that I can add more panels in the future. The Solar hot water heater is fantastic and has saved me about $60 per month off my electric bill. I would gladly recommend All American Solar for your solar panels or a solar hot water project and I would hire them again."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Whether you need a license or permit for water softener installation depends on your location. Some municipalities require the installer to hold a plumbing license, while others may only require a permit and an inspection. In some cases, both a permit and a licensed installer are necessary, and some areas have no requirements at all. Often, only certified plumbers and electricians are allowed to pull the necessary permits. To find out the specific regulations in your area, you can contact your local building department. Alternatively, a local water softener installer or plumber will be familiar with the requirements and can typically pull the permits for you. Regardless of local laws, it is always recommended to hire a licensed professional to ensure the system is sized and installed correctly. You can use tools like Angi’s state licensing tool to verify an installer's license status.

It depends on the type of surface. For instance, if you’re trying to get rid of hard water deposits on glass, you can spray vinegar onto the surface and wipe it off with a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. However, if the deposits are on granite or natural stone, it’s better to use baking soda and water rather than vinegar or other acidic cleaners.

Replacing a water softener costs $200 to $6,000, depending on the capacity of the water softener, the type of water softener, and the amount of people living in your home. An ion exchange water softener is the most common type and costs $500 to $3,000. Water distillers, which cost $1,200 to $4,000, and dual-tank models, which cost $1,000 to $5,000, are definitely pricey, but they offer more filtration or capacity, respectively.

Most of the U.S. has hard water, especially across portions of the West and Midwest. The areas with the hardest water include parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Illinois, North and South Dakota, Ohio, and New York. You’ll find soft water in parts of New England, the Southeast, the Pacific Northwest, and Hawaii.

No, a water descaler won't descale pipes. The charged water running through the pipes may very slowly dissolve mineral deposits and hold them inside the water, but it's a very gradual process. If your pipes do need descaling, it's much better to get a local plumber to descale your pipes.
