"Josh has been out to my house a few times now and does a great job each time. The first was about a year ago where he re-routed our sprinkler system to provide better coverage and connected it to city water after our well dried up. We haven't had any issues with our sprinkler zones since and the lawn looks great now. The second time he came to fix a broken pipe and also dug out our sprinkler heads after the sod had grown over them. Once again, he did a fantastic job. Both times he was communicative, on time, and gave us a fair price for good work. Mac is my go-to for irrigation services. Thanks, Josh!"

Small jobs welcome

"In a panic after digging out a big plant and breaking a feeder line to the irrigation for a large part of my garden, I made a few blind calls and Misael called me back, said he could be at my house that day (after being ignored by the company who installed the system after three calls!). He came on time, did the repair, checked the whole system, did a few other small fixes, and charged a very, very fair price. He was polite, professional and very thorough. We are very pleased to say we have a new irrigation company: H. I. M. Irrigation! Thank you, Misael!"

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

The amount of time it takes for grass to germinate varies depending on the grass species. Even after germination, it’s going to take a while to see grass blades start emerging from soil. Some grasses germinate quickly and emerge after several days of growth (and healthy watering). Others may take up to three weeks to show themselves. Cool-season grasses tend to take the longest to germinate at one month.

There are several best practices you can do to keep your lawn looking healthy. Knowing when to water grass is among the most important. Having your sprinkler timer set to early morning is best because it gives your grass and plants enough time to absorb water before the sun and wind can evaporate it. To maximize a sprinkler’s impact, aerate your lawn once or twice per year. Doing this achieves better absorption and stronger root systems for your grass.

Thorough soil preparation, spreading seeds evenly, and consistent watering are essential for successful grass establishment.

Yes, grass will regrow after forestry mulching, but the timeline depends on soil conditions, mulch thickness, and existing seed banks. The nutrient-rich mulch left behind helps retain moisture and improve soil health, encouraging regrowth. However, if the mulch layer is too thick, it may block sunlight and slow grass germination. For faster results, you can rake excess mulch, aerate the soil, and plant the new grass seeds.

The fastest growing grass seeds are Bermuda grass, which is a warm-season grass and ryegrass, which is a cool-season grass. Both of these grass types tend to germinate in five to 10 days. Other fast-growing varieties include perennial Ryegrass and fescues, all of which have unique characteristics and growing requirements.
