"Jeff was great to work with. He was professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. His company did a great job tenting and fumigating my house. And the price was very reasonable. I’d highly recommend Family Shield Pest Control."

"Have always done my own lawn work but due to surgery needed someone to help me. Could not be happier with the service that we are receiving from Dylan at Diligent Lawn & Landscape. As I am an avid gardener I was worried that no one would be able to do it the way I wanted and boy was I wrong!!!! My husband and I decided that even when I can get back in the yard we will keep Dylan on to continue to help me with projects. You could not ask for a nicer young man and he completes any project asked of him to perfection. So blessed that God brought this young man to help me. I know that anyone who uses this company will be very pleased!!!!"

"Excellent experience for this homeowner. He agreed on negotiated price to remove about 15 4 foot bushes from one spot in my back yard to all go my back fence. A hard job especially in this heat! But he and his crew got it done the next day at a good price. friendly and hardworking, I hired them to do my weekly lawn work. They are professional and I strongly recommend him !"

"Super helpful- we're new homeowners from NYC to the suburbs and had little knowledge about the winterizing process, but everyone was very kind and knowledgeable. Pacific Lawn Sprinklers were the quickest to respond and had the most flexible options. We'll definitely have them come back in the Spring."

Lawns FAQs, answered by experts

Generally, it is not necessary to remove old mulch before applying a new layer. As organic mulch breaks down, it enriches the soil with nutrients. However, you should remove the old layer if it shows signs of fungus or disease, which can be common in moist areas, or if the total depth is already too thick. Avoid letting the total mulch depth exceed 3 inches, as this can harm plant roots. If you do remove old, disease-free mulch, it can be added to a compost pile.

Yes, especially for properties focusing on curb appeal. A well-maintained landscape supports visual and environmental attractiveness, potentially increasing desirability.

We always recommend wearing a protective mask when blowing leaves (as well as goggles if possible). Blowing leaves creates a lot of dust, and in many cases that dust contains a bunch of allergens that can make those sensitive very miserable. Even worse, moldy leaves can contain fungi and bacteria that could make humans as animals very sick. Mask up before starting your leaf project, and if anyone is helping you collect the leaves it’s a good idea if they wear a mask, too.

According to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, there are over 10,000 kinds of mushrooms, and some are harmful to both humans and animals. However, not all mushrooms are harmful—some feed on thatch and wood, which provides nutrients for grass and plants.

But unless you’re a mushroom expert (mycologist), it can be hard to tell poisonous mushrooms from non-poisonous. So if you have kids or pets (or both), removing them is the safest route to take.

A land-clearing project begins with assessing and preparing the property and pulling any necessary permits with your municipal building department. Clearing can begin after the project details are ironed out between you and your pro and a written contract is signed. Pros will bring out the necessary equipment and crew to first remove trees, stumps, brush, and vegetation. Your pro will then load up and haul away the project debris, and depending on the project, they may finish by grading the cleared land.
