"We enjoyed working with Charles very much! From our first talks you could see and feel the passion he has for what he does. We talked about what we wanted done, Charles listened and offered his advise. He was right there every time we called him with questions and what nots. Charles and his crew were there on time every day! (That was heaven). He will go with you to help pick out the right product for your job. We were out of town for the most part of this renovation, Charles would stay in constant contact with us talking on the phone, sending pictures, we really appreciated this! We would talk with Charles and tell him of something that we thought of and wanted him to do, (which was not part of the work order), Charles would just smile and say “okay, I can do that”. His patients, understanding and knowledge is amazing! We have also had Charles do a remodel of the kitchen and bathrooms of our other condo as well. We love the work that he did, we have fallen in love with our home all over again! I would love to add pictures but it won’t let me, so sad We enjoyed working with Charles very much! "The entire process was exceptional! Cisco was clear and concise about scope and price of project and remodel was virtually seamless. The entire team presented themselves professionally and not only did a good job with the remodeling aspects, but kept everything cleaned up during and after the job. I highly recommend this company for your remodeling needs."

"We were totally satisfied with our kitchen remodel. Manuel and the US Regional Group crew worked with me to make sure I could save the parts of the kitchen we wanted to keep, and replace what we wanted to. Manuel did job site visits to follow up with the crew on several occasions in order to keep us updated on what was worth keeping or trash, that allowed us to stay within budget and receive a result we were happy with. The craftsmanship was excellent. Manuel has also come out to follow up as needed since the kitchen has been completed."

"Briggs and his nephew did extremely great job installing a kitchenette in my lower level basement area/adding recessed lighting and a few other projects we requested. From plumbing to electrical and sheet rocking plus painting everything came out very beautiful. Briggs made my family very comfortable throughout the entire process and we are very pleased with the outcome and will definitely used Briggs for any future projects."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Yes, in most cases, finishing a basement is worth the cost. The project adds valuable, usable square footage to your home and typically provides a return on investment (ROI) of 70% to 75%. For example, an average basement refinishing project costing $32,000 could add between $22,400 and $24,000 to your property's value. The final value added depends on factors like your location, the quality of materials and workmanship, and the features you include, such as a living space, bedroom, or bathroom. To be officially counted in your home's total square footage, the finished space must comply with all local building codes, including requirements for points of egress. However, in areas prone to flooding, a finished basement might be seen as a liability by potential buyers and could potentially decrease your home's value.

Home improvements that increase value offer a high return on investment (ROI) and can enhance your quality of life. Upgrades to your home’s curb appeal often add the most value, with garage door replacement having one of the best ROIs at 93%. Other high-value exterior projects include replacing your front door, upgrading siding and roofing, installing a stone veneer, adding new windows, and landscaping. For interior renovations, a fresh coat of paint provides an excellent ROI. Major projects like a kitchen remodel or upgrading appliances and HVAC systems also add significant value, as potential buyers appreciate the peace of mind that new equipment provides.

Adding an extension or addition to your home costs more than a loft conversion in all but the rarest cases where the home's structural integrity is lacking. Because a home addition requires a new foundation section or significant structural upgrades to handle a cantilevered portion, the cost compared to almost any loft conversion is significantly greater for the same square footage.

The most challenging part of finishing a basement is addressing moisture control. Basement waterproofing is an essential task that requires a professional’s skills and knowledge. If you don’t properly waterproof your finished basement, it’ll be vulnerable to dampness, water damage, and mold growth. Ensuring proper insulation and ventilation to combat these issues while meeting building codes adds complexity to your remodeling project.

Some older homes have toilets in the basement to combat sewage backups. This type of toilet, also known as a Pittsburgh potty, acted as a safety valve over the incoming sewer line. If a line backed up, it would back up into the toilet because it was the lowest fixture in the home, keeping it out of sight and away from the finished areas of the house.

Basement toilets were also used by workers with messy jobs, like those who worked in coal mines or steel mills. This way, they could clean up and avoid tracking dirt through their home.
