Customers say: Quality work

"We hired Gustavo to redo the floor in the first level of our house after having water damage. Gustavo quickly identified the root cause water entering the floor; the door. He rebuilt our door frame, sealed it perfectly and corrected all of the issues that existed from the previous handyman. A heavy rainstorm occurred within days of the repair and there was absolutely no leaks. He also did an amazing good replacing our floor and installing new baseboards. Gustavo is extremely detailed! Our baseboards angles were perfectly cut! Apart from being great with the flooring Gustavo is extremely knowledgeable and was able to help me with other repairs around the house. In addition, he is very professional, reliable, trustworthy and personable. His prices are also very fair. For as long as we are in the Orlando area we will work with him and HIGHLY recommend him."

"This was a big project. We have 3 - 10'x 8' sliding patio doors, the doors are extremely heavy. All required new sliding hardware, and one set of doors was frozen in place. We had a set of tracks that was severely twisted and bent. Tal assessed the project and brought in his crew to help with the removal of the panels. The process took a full day. In the end each door had been rebuilt, and all work beautifully. Thanks, Tal for a job well done."

Doors questions, answered by experts

Wood, steel, and fiberglass are common choices that offer durability and style.

You will need to modify an existing door to use it as a barn door for a number of reasons. For example, a barn door sits on a track several inches off the ground. An existing panel door will hover above the ground. A door that is slightly wider than the door opening is also ideal for the barn style.

Residential exterior doors should swing inward. While this cuts into your living space and prevents you from putting furniture near the inside of your door, it also means that the hinges will only be accessible from the interior. Hinges that sit on the outside of your home leave your property far less secure, as someone looking to get in could simply unscrew them and remove your door. Additionally, inswing exterior doors will be operable even if you have snow or other obstructions outside.

This hack required some hand strength. First, bend the fork's tines. Next, slip the pointed ends into the door latch and close the door. Open the door to remove the fork and break off the fork's handle. Reinsert the fork's head into the door latch and close the door. Finally, slide the fork's handle through the tines, creating a horizontal barrier that prevents the door from opening inward.

To build a standard size, six-panel door yourself, you’ll need four 2-foot by 6-foot boards, one 2-foot by 8-foot or 2-foot by 10-foot board, and a sheet of 3/4-inch, paint-grade plywood. The 2-foot by 6-foot boards will serve as your stiles, top rail, and horizontal and vertical mullions, and the wider board will serve as the bottom rail, which is usually wider than the other horizontal pieces. The plywood will serve as the panels, but you’ll need around five 1-foot by 6-foot boards to make your own panels if you want to stain the door rather than paint it.
