"Unfortunately, with Covid, zoning, permitting, and extra costs to change the type awning to metal - our budget was blown and did not meet our original outside covering. Francisco was very flexible and helpful. Highly recommend."

"The team at Awning Stars were very responsive and professional. We wanted a motorized awning over the sliding glass door leading to the pool deck. Vertical space was tight due to the screen enclosure so the "off-the-shelf" standard units sold on-line would not fit with the space available. So I contacted Awning Stars to see what they could do and they came up with a unit that would fit the space. The awning is extremely well made, very solid and should last a long time. It was a little expensive but was worth the cost. I'm very happy with the end result."

"Dennis was professional, personable, knowledgeable, and responsive to our need to replace our awning. From the get-go, he knew what we needed and was able to get our awning replaced earlier than expected, and he kept in touch with me throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend Dennis Martinez !"

"Sun Protection installed my new patio screen today. The crew was made up of Matt, Hugo and Austin. They installed, checked out system that it operated correctly, trained myself and my wife and cleaned up.(Like they were never there) Matt pointed out that "when operating remote make sure the name is showing up" , in this way the controls are in the right orientation. I am happy with my new screen"

Patio Covers questions, answered by experts

Awnings can be a serious investment for homeowners, particularly if it features a motorized and retractable design. Protect the exterior of your home by choosing a reliable and reputable contractor. Do some research ahead of time to get an idea of the potential contractor’s strengths and weaknesses. Don’t hesitate to give them a call to discuss specifics.

Hurricane fabric is a temporary form of hurricane protection that offers an alternative to boarding up windows or installing traditional storm panels. Unlike hurricane screens, which are permanently attached to your home, hurricane fabric is installed over your windows and other openings before a storm.

In terms of effectiveness, hurricane fabric is tested and proven to protect homes from Category 5 hurricanes, which can have winds over 157 miles per hour. When installed properly, it is designed to block the majority of wind and rain and protect against water, debris, and projectile damage.

While the fabric is exceptionally durable, windows can still break if hit directly by flying debris at high velocity. However, it is a good protective measure against an impending storm. For comparison, hurricane fabric is more protective and durable than hurricane window film. While boarding up windows is easier than installing the fabric, it is more labor-intensive and requires storing heavy plywood.

To further increase the chances of your windows surviving a hurricane, you can take additional steps like securing outdoor items, elevating HVAC units, and fortifying your home's foundation.

The least expensive way to enclose a porch is with screens. These protect the room by preventing insects from entering and, if you live in a warm climate, provide excellent airflow during hot summer months. Screens cost far less than any other alternative, so if you are against getting permits, spending too much, or enclosing your porch in walls or glass, screens are the best choice.

The average cost to build a pergola ranges from $2,200 to $6,400, whereas the average cost of an awning ranges from $1,400 to $4,400, meaning that an awning tends to be less expensive to build or install than a pergola. Ultimately, the less expensive option depends on a few factors, including size, quality of materials used, and location.

The cheapest material for covering a tennis court is rubber or clay. Rubber needs to be installed over a concrete or asphalt base, however, which can make the project more expensive up-front (but cheaper to resurface over time). Clay courts are among the most affordable, but they aren’t the best to play on and require a lot of maintenance.
