"I recently hired Nathan’s Carpet and Flooring for a flooring installation and was very happy and impressed with the service received and outcome of the floors. George and his team were very professional and communicative with the job. I would feel really good about referring Nathan’s Carpet and Flooring to my family and friends."

"I am absolutely thrilled with our new floors!!! We thought we needed grout removed and replaced in our LR/ DR area. I had gotten several estimates. When Greg and Eric arrived I told them that we had the tile floor installed first, and the popcorn ceiling removed second (a last minute decision which was a BIg Mistake). Anyway, the floor was a mess and I was unhappy. Immediately they said we did't need grout removed, All you all need was a pressure wash (That might be the wrong term). Anyway, Eric said that could do a spot demonstra-tion to show us how that would solve the problem. They did the demonstration and gave an estimate on a Friday. I called that Saturday, they completed the job that following Monday, which included all of our other tiled areas. They were on time for both appointments. Very thorough and professional. They were honest. Greg told us to give a day for the grout to completely dry before putting down our big rugs. My floors are beautiful thanks to them. I have already referred them to family. They have one appointment scheduled. These guys are the BEST!"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

You can use underfloor heating with most kinds of flooring. However, particularly thick carpet will create problems, since it will absorb a lot of the heat and make it difficult to feel. Also, there are some concerns that underfloor heating can dry out natural wood over time, so if you have wood flooring, get an expert opinion on whether radiant heating is appropriate.

The need to replace your flooring depends on the type of flooring and the amount of wear and tear it experiences through foot traffic. For example, you should replace carpet every ten years, but other, more durable options like tile can last up to 30 years. It’s best to speak with your flooring installation professional to determine the best course for replacing your flooring.

Nylon carpet is widely considered one of the most durable and longest-lasting options, typically lasting 12 to 15 years. Its durability comes from its high resistance to wear, tear, stains, fading, and abrasions. It also resists liquid spills, insects, mold, and mildew, making it ideal for high-traffic areas like living rooms and hallways. For even greater longevity, frieze or Berber carpets are excellent choices that can last up to 20 to 25 years.

Beyond the material, a carpet's construction is key to its durability. Low-pile carpets with short, tight loops hold up better against wear than high-pile options. As a synthetic material, nylon is available in a vast range of colors and styles and often feels remarkably soft.

It is normal to glue carpet down, though it’s not the only or the most popular method of installing carpet. Modern techniques include tack strips and stretching the carpet, but you might still find glued carpet in older homes or a home with a DIY’d past. Removing a glued-down carpet will be harder compared to other methods of installation.

A stair runner is a length of carpet installed in the center of the staircase, either on top of or in between hard materials installed on the staircase. The carpet doesn’t cover the entire length of the steps, making stair runners an aesthetic choice. Thankfully, if you want hard materials on your stairs to show through, a stair runner will make it safer, as the primary area you walk on will be less slippery thanks to the carpet.
