"Footprints Floors Miami / Mick & Ryan has been exceptional people to work with. We have just purchased a home which was built in 1925 and it seems that we have original floors that are Florida Pine and Oak. Florida pine is very vibrant with a beautiful texture in it; however, it's not an easy color to stain. The previous owners has stained it with very dark color to hide the texture. Once we sanded down the floors; we wanted to keep it as natural it is, however, Mick has told us that it's a very rare request and he needs to do some research. After the research; Mick has come up with a stain/sealing brand that he never used before. Once we finished the process, the result was exceptional! Not only the result; Mick & Ryan has been great partners to work with since they have been very responsive and helpful with any request that we came up with. I would highly recommend them."

"Floor looks a lot better now. My only concern was if it was sealed as I did not see the sealer. I was informed by the technician that it is mixed with the water they use to pressure wash the floor. Also, as I look closer at the floors, the machine does not get in the edges well. A lot of the stains in the bathroom did not come out. I am overall ok with the work that has been done."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Your room doesn’t need to be completely empty to restretch a carpet, but you’ll need enough space that you can move around furniture to access the wrinkled areas and the wall where you’re reattaching the carpet. A contractor will move your furniture out of the way before they start the job, but you can save money by moving your furniture before they arrive.

There are several types of flooring options available for you to choose from. Each option has its durability factor to consider, as well as maintenance components. Some flooring options for you to choose from include:

  • Hardwood

  • Tile

  • Laminate

  • Linoleum

  • Carpeting

  • Stone

  • Cork

The life expectancy of your laminate flooring is 10 to 30 years, depending on how well you maintain it. Unlike hardwood flooring, you cannot refinish laminate to prolong its lifespan. So while laminate is more budget-friendly, it does not last as long as hardwood. You can increase the lifespan of your floor by maintaining a regular cleaning schedule, using the right cleaning products, and wiping up spills promptly.

Your floor sees a lot of action: foot traffic bringing in dirt from outside, pets with muddy paws, kids dropping food crumbs, and more. All of this makes your floors dirty, and if you don’t keep up with cleaning them, staying on top of the dirt will become more challenging.

It is normal to glue carpet down, though it’s not the only or the most popular method of installing carpet. Modern techniques include tack strips and stretching the carpet, but you might still find glued carpet in older homes or a home with a DIY’d past. Removing a glued-down carpet will be harder compared to other methods of installation.
