"I would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to Anthony Martucci with [*** Link removed ***] an Architectural Glass & Mirror company which he owns. I hired Anthony Martucci to come and take a look at my bathroom and to give me a quote on a new GLASS DOOR my girl has been dreaming about. He gave me a REALLY GOOD PRICE and came within a couple days to to do the job. THEY DID A SERIOUSLY AMAZING JOB with my bathroom and we really loved the work especially me " a person who is REALLY PICKY with installations. They worked fast, were on time, very professional and left my bathroom super clean. Im going to use them again for sure. If you know anybody who needs a new glass door in any aspect. Please give Anthony a call. You wont regret it."

"The Glassperts are a great company to work with! Me and my husband own a few rental properties and needed some repairs on one of our homes. From start to finish, Manny was a pleasure to work with. His technicians showed up on time and had the house looking and working like new! This is our go to glass repair company from now on and have already recommended them to my sister."

"Once I got them to return my call and come give an estimate they were great.  Yet, we had to call 3 times to check on the door and get a time for them to come install.
We had them replace all of our interior windows and they were very professional and the work was well done.  This is why we used them to replace the front door.  I would recommend them to others because of the quality of work performed.

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

Glass block installation can be relatively expensive due to the range of material costs and the labor time to assemble this type of specialty window. The process proceeds slowly as the glass does not absorb moisture from mortar and silicone caulk takes longer to harden, leaving spacers to hold up the structure until the caulk or mortar begins to cure. Plus, if your current windows have structural issues or damage, you’ll need to repair them before beginning the project, increasing your bottom line.

New glass costs anywhere from $3 to $100 per square foot. More specifically, tempered and insulated glass—a common option for sliding glass doors—costs between $10 and $14 per square foot.

Luckily, glass block windows need minimal maintenance. Other than regular cleaning, the only maintenance involved in having a glass block window is inspecting for cracks every year and applying sealer to the mortar joints if the blocks are set in masonry mortar. Glass block windows hold up well against wind and moisture better than traditional windows and are not prone to rot.

Installing glass block windows has benefits and disadvantages, as with most materials. The pros and cons can vary depending on the type of glass block and the window location.

Pros

  • Maintains privacy while letting light into the bathroom

  • Energy efficient

  • Sealed to prevent drafts

  • Aesthetically pleasing

  • Strong and secure

Cons

  • Costly to install

  • Challenging installation

  • Challenging repair

Glass block windows aren’t fire hazards; fire-rated glass block windows can increase your home’s fire safety. Modern glass blocks are made with materials that can resist high temperatures and prevent fire spread. Most offer a 45-minute fire rating, while some increase it to two hours. Compared to the typical 20 to 90 minute rating for a double-pane window, glass block can increase your home’s safety in the event of a fire.
