Small jobs welcome

"Sean and his team are extremely knowledgeable about the numerous issues facing SFL lawns: Overfeeding, underfeeding, over/under watering, fungus, insects, thatch, aerating, weeds, etc. Their work is top notch with excellent results to help busy homeowners with their lawns. I tried several national lawn maintenance companies spending hundreds of dollars each year with minimal results. Sean's company and services was by far the best. His company is family owned, Sean is the president and owner and personally overseas the work by his staff. I don't write many reviews but I certainly do for those companies that stand out. Sean's company is one of those. If you hire Sean, you will not be disappointed. Thanks Sean for all that you have done for my lawn! :)"

"Since our sprinkler repair was a small job, he did the work on the spot. Very friendly and accommodating! The individual who came was the assistant project manager (?) and he was very knowledgeable of his profession. I highly recommend this company for your sprinkler irrigation system."

"He's been mowing and maintaining my lawn for several months now and it's getting lush again. Previous company cut and used weedeater way too short and weeds soon took over and the drought didn't help. Looking green again and filling in nicely now. He has also gone the extra mile with my special request to install a raised garden bed section and arbor entrance. He even helped me pick out the materials needed to accomplish the project. I expect to continue using his services for regular lawn mowing and any maintenance treatments he recommends to keep it my yard healthy."

Lawns questions, answered by experts

In general, expect to mulch your leaves about once or twice every fall. You want there to be a decent amount of leaves on the ground, but not too much where it’s difficult for the mower to cut through.

According to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, there are over 10,000 kinds of mushrooms, and some are harmful to both humans and animals. However, not all mushrooms are harmful—some feed on thatch and wood, which provides nutrients for grass and plants.

But unless you’re a mushroom expert (mycologist), it can be hard to tell poisonous mushrooms from non-poisonous. So if you have kids or pets (or both), removing them is the safest route to take.

The time that it takes to fill in a pool with dirt varies based on the size of the pool and the equipment you have available. Using heavy equipment, like an excavator rather than a shovel, will significantly cut down on the time it takes to complete the project. With the right equipment, it may only take a day or two. However, after the initial filling, the dirt will continue to settle over the following weeks and months. You may need to add more dirt to make the empty area level with the rest of the yard.

Dawn dish soap is typically too abrasive to use on plants, even when diluted with water. The soap contains detergents that can strip away a plant's natural waxes and oils, which are there to protect the leaves.

Should you decide to make your own soap spray insecticide, it's important to choose a gentle soap that doesn't contain detergents or surfactants. Castile soap, such as Dr. Bronner’s, is a good pick.

Don’t pick up dirt after aerating. Even though it's tempting because soil cores are incredibly unsightly, these cores and the dirt they leave behind are ecologically important. This is what keeps your grass looking beautiful and growing healthily. The soil cores need two to three weeks to decompose, but you can swat them with a rake if their natural shape bothers you.
