"Greg and his crew were excellent at their jobs. They were on time and were attentive to every detail. They were so good that others in the neighborhood had their trimming done as well. We were all satisfied and pleased with the jobs they completed. Premier Tree Service is my choice for future tree work. Review by Sue U. from St. Petersburg, Fl."

Small jobs welcome

"Tree Roadhouse is run by a generous and caring Christian family. Their prices are more than fair and their work ethic is admirable. They give discounts to veterans, responders and churches. If you show them one of their door hangers you get $50. off of any tree service. I definitely will use them again."

"The men who work for Sam's tree service are great guys, very friendly. I am extremely impressed with their courage and skill in taking down two large, old trees in my yard and grinding up the stumps. I will definitely call Sam again when I need to take another tree down, and I will definitely recommend Sam's Tree Service to my neighbors on both sides."

"Wow. This crew was fast, friendly, professional, meticulous and efficient. They took down two big, old laurel oaks in our front yard, ground the stumps well below the surface, carried away every leaf and twig, and even included hauling away a big pile of brush in the side yard. They didn't just haul it away; they leaf-blew the area. In our 20 years living in St. Petersburg, we've used four different tree-service companies. Without a doubt, this was the best. Not to mention that their price was highly competitive. Bill quickly returned every phone call and text, and answered every question. He was clear and detailed in all his communications. Amazing experience all the way from the first call I made to the company to happily writing the check for the amazing job they did. Thank you all!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

The average tree pruning should take one hour with the right equipment. Light pruning of a small tree may only take around 15 to 20 minutes. Pruning multiple large trees in your yard will probably take several hours, including cleanup. However, tree pruning pros can do this job much faster, so you can rely on pros if you’re short on time.

Pruning trees is important for several reasons. It improves tree health and strength by removing dead, diseased, or unwanted branches, which in turn encourages new growth and can help treat disease. For fruit trees, proper pruning can lead to a larger and better-quality harvest. Pruning also enhances safety by removing weak limbs that could break and fall, potentially causing injury or property damage, especially during storms. Beyond these functional benefits, pruning can also improve a tree's appearance. To ensure pruning is done correctly for the tree's long-term health, consider hiring a professional.

Trees don’t usually grow back after being cut down. Some particularly robust tree species may start sending up new stems from a stump to recover, but those stems won’t become a “tree” like before. Generally, trees don’t recover from being entirely cut down, which is why it’s important to be careful when making a decision. When you cut down a tree, it’s a good idea to make plans to remove the stump, even if it’s unlikely to grow back.

Not every arborist climbs trees, but most will do so if that’s the best method for assessing or treating a tree. Arborists have a variety of tree climbing gear and safety equipment to choose from when climbing trees. Consult your local arborist about their tree-climbing plan if your service requires that type of task.

The best way to protect tree roots is to avoid the roots entirely by excavating outside the root radius of the tree. For nearby projects, it’s a good idea to construct a temporary retaining wall. But that’s not always possible, depending on the project and the root system. In these cases, consider using alternative equipment like an auger to tunnel under the ground.

Remember, tree roots can damage nearby cement foundations as they grow. If a tree is close enough to interfere with large excavations, it may be better to remove the tree than risk future problems.
