"I had two big piles of Hurricane Ian curbside debris (including sawed logs) to clean up. I also had 3 Palms to be trimmed. Earlier in 2022, A-Absolute also trimmed many trees on my property. At both times, the A-Absolute team did a great job and cleaned up the site thoroughly. I have used several tree services in my 15 years in Palm Harbor, FL. A- Absolute is by far the most-professional and thorough tree service I have used in FL. They have state-of-the-art equipment and knowledgeable staff who know how to use it. The team takes extra steps to ensure the job is done right and clean-up is thorough."

"This is the second time I used Proper Cut Tree Care and I can't say enough good things about them. Prompt, courteous, efficient, professional, clean, thorough, and competitive pricing. They removed a large oak tree that was close to my home and ground the stump. Ken arranged everything and accommodated my special requests and coordinated with my HOA and the landscaper to protect underground sprinklers and utilities. Call them if you need tree service, you won't be dissatisfied."

"Roger and his crew did an outstanding job trimming several trees and removing a large laurel oak tree that was aged out and too close to the house - risky during storms. They were so good at maneuvering equipment and bringing down large limbs without damage to fencing, the pool cage or other nearby trees. On time, removed debris and cleaned/raked area. They have been my go-to tree service for years and never disappoint. Fair estimate/excellent work!"

"I’ve used Mike for countless jobs. Always professional and never left unsatisfied with the work. He did a very complex job for me most recently using a crane to remove 3 dangerous pine trees that were hanging over my house. This type of job should always be left to a professional. Choose Mj family trees and you won’t regret it."

"Adam was extremely quick to give me a call. He was able to come by within the hour and give me an estimate on the job to be done. We agreed to have the job done with his company. Adam and staff came back and removed the trees in a remarkable time frame and at a very reasonable price. This was a GREAT group of guys to deal with. They left the area very clean when they left. I recommend Adam's Company and will most definitely use their services in the future. Thank you Adam for a job well done."

"Today Outdoor Experts LLC (Tree Trimming etc) trimmed our queen palm, and the overhang branches from another tree near our mailbox. They did a very good job, working quickly, efficiently, and they cleaned everything up when the work was completed."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Homeowners are usually not responsible for trees that fall on power lines. Power companies usually have utility easements around power lines, which give them the responsibility to maintain any trees within about 15 to 20 feet of the lines.

State and local laws vary, but in most cases, you are allowed to trim any branches from your neighbor's tree that cross your property line. However, it's important to ensure you do not damage the overall health of the tree in the process. Removing branches incorrectly can jeopardize the health of the tree and could lead to you being on the hook to replace it.

There are several methods to hollow out a tree stump, and the best one depends on your tools, experience, and priorities. Common methods include using a chisel and hammer, a chainsaw, or burning.

  • Chisel and Hammer: This is often considered the easiest approach for those with limited tools or experience, though it is the most time-consuming.

  • Chainsaw: Using a chainsaw is the fastest method, but it comes with significant safety risks, especially for inexperienced users.

  • Burning: This can be an effective method, but it is not recommended unless you can first drill holes into the stump. Without holes, the stump will be difficult to light and may not burn completely through.

A power drill with at least a ⅜-inch diameter bit can make the job quicker and easier, regardless of the primary method. While you can use a chisel or chainsaw without a drill, it will require more time and effort. Always wear protective goggles and thick gloves, as splinters are an inevitable risk.

The best time to transplant a tree is when it is dormant. For many trees, this means either in the fall after the leaves have dropped (around October or November) or in early spring before new growth begins (around March). The ideal timing can depend on the type of tree. Deciduous trees do well when moved in early spring or fall, while evergreens are best transplanted in early spring or late summer. For example, pine trees are best moved in early fall, but maples prefer late fall. Avoid transplanting in winter, as the frozen or hard, cold soil poses a significant risk to the roots and prevents the tree from acclimating properly.

In the case that a tree is growing directly on your property line, the cost of maintaining the tree is shared and is the property of both owners in common. In this case, all decisions regarding the maintenance of the tree must be made jointly, and both parties must agree on a course of action. You will need to agree with your neighbor about the cutting of any roots before you carry it out, and your neighbor must also consult with you before doing any trimming. Coming to an agreement with your neighbor about any shared trees ahead of necessary trimming and maintenance will make this process much simpler.
