"I had two big piles of Hurricane Ian curbside debris (including sawed logs) to clean up. I also had 3 Palms to be trimmed. Earlier in 2022, A-Absolute also trimmed many trees on my property. At both times, the A-Absolute team did a great job and cleaned up the site thoroughly. I have used several tree services in my 15 years in Palm Harbor, FL. A- Absolute is by far the most-professional and thorough tree service I have used in FL. They have state-of-the-art equipment and knowledgeable staff who know how to use it. The team takes extra steps to ensure the job is done right and clean-up is thorough."

"I could not be happier with the crew, management and result of the work performed. I had massive, towering old trees in declining health which threatened the safety of my neighbors and actually grew through the power and telecom lines along the street, encapsulating some of the wires in wood. The removal could not have been more challenging nor the stakes higher, with thousands of pounds of limbs leaning precariously over roofs and power transmission equipment. True to their name, experience was a fundamental part of what made this project a success, devoid of any loss, injury or other calamity. This was a job that could have easily gone terribly sideways, and fast, in the wrong hands. ETS was well-equipped, well-staffed, capable, careful and worked with the local electric company to de-energize the lines while working between and above them. They brought in a fantastic stump grinder, cleaned up the job site and all of this for a price that was very fair. I entertained quotes and proposals from a variety of local service providers, Experience Tree Service was hands down the best combination of value, professionalism, integrity and capabilities. Hiring them again in the future would be an easy decision indeed."

"Mike and his crew did an excellent job taking out several trees for me and trimming others back. From start to finish, they were professional, efficient, and clearly knew what they were doing. The work was done carefully and the cleanup afterward was just as impressive everything looked neat and well taken care of. Their pricing was very fair, especially for the quality of work they provide. On top of that, they were genuinely friendly and easy to work with, which made the whole experience even better. It’s not always easy to find a crew that combines skill, reliability, and good customer service, but Mike and his team definitely delivered. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone needing tree work done."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

It is possible to cut down a tree on your property yourself, but it is generally not recommended unless specific conditions are met. You should only consider this project if the tree is small (e.g., under 4-5 inches in diameter and short enough that you don't need a ladder to reach the branches), and you are experienced in handling a chainsaw. The tree must also be located far from any power lines, fences, homes, or other structures. Even for small trees, the work can be dangerous, and it's always advisable to have a spotter to ensure the tree falls correctly and no branches fall on you.

For any tree that is large, requires a ladder to access, or is near electrical lines or structures, you should always hire a professional. Attempting to remove a large tree yourself is extremely dangerous, poses a risk of serious injury, and could result in significant damage to your property.

Before any tree removal, it's also important to check your local and state regulations to ensure the tree is not historic or otherwise protected by your city.

Trees naturally want to grow upward, so one may straighten all by itself, though this only comes into play when a tree is leaning just a small amount. For trees growing into an awkward position or those leaning heavily in one direction, the above steps are necessary to ensure the tree gets back on the right path. This also holds true for trees planted in a spot with unstable soil.

Licensing requirements for arborists, also known as tree surgeons, vary by state and municipality. Many areas require a license, which often involves specialized education and experience. Even if not mandated, it's wise to hire a licensed professional as they tend to have more experience. Beyond licensing, look for certifications from organizations like the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) or the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), as this indicates a higher level of expertise. Certified arborists must typically pass a comprehensive exam. Always confirm that the arborist has a business license and is fully insured to protect yourself from liability. Seeking positive recommendations from local homeowners is also a good step in finding a qualified professional.

Depending on the severity of the damage, a tree might continue healing for years after a split or a break. Saplings can usually bounce back in the spring in one or two seasons, but larger trees might take a few years to regain their former strength. If your tree is showing strong growth and is not dropping limbs, you can consider it healed after the first two seasons.

Dying trees and even dead trees can spread diseases to other living trees. There are many different types of tree diseases, so it’s essential to address the issue as soon as possible to prevent the disease from spreading to other healthy trees. If the tree cannot be saved and is infected, you need to have it removed to protect the other trees on your property.
