I have been in business for 25 Years in Gainesville Fl.We have 2 employees, my son and myself do the work and we have over 42 years of experiance between the two of us, we have been to electrical trade school, and I go every two years to a continue education school to keep my license up dated. We willmake appointment with our customers to see what they would like for us to do for them and we give them our ideas and bid price to do the work that they need done. On service calls we charge a $80.00 trip charge and $50.00 per hour after we show up for the service call, and if we think it will take over one hour we will give our customers a price to fix the problem. We do free estimates for all jobs big or small. We do not use subcontractors to do our work.

"Hired David Gunter Electric for rewiring a garage conversion, as well as a few other upgrades around the property. The owner personally did the quote, it was very fair pricing, all work was done very professionally and up to code. Inspectors found no problems and everything works as it should. I would not hesitate to hire David Gunter Electric for my next electrician needs."

"One of the circuits in the house tripped the breaker the night before Christmas Eve. We had a dinner party for a few dozen family and friends scheduled for that night. We called Williams Electric early on the 24th. Getting an appointment was not an issue. A little later, Zach and staff showed up and took care of the problem! Cost was very reasonable for the house call and work done. Would definitely call S.E. Williams again for electrician services."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, most electric heated bathroom floor systems require a dedicated GFCI-protected circuit to ensure safety and proper function. An electrician may need to upgrade your panel or run new wiring, which can increase installation costs. Always check local building codes and manufacturer recommendations before installation to ensure a safe and compliant setup.

Even if you don’t have children living in your home, The National Fire Prevention Association still recommends installing tamper-resistant outlets when you’re replacing your existing outlets.

Not only is your home likely to change hands at some point, but you may have young children over as guests. Making the switch even if you don’t currently have children living with you at the moment will help protect any future pint-sized visitors to your home.

Most new homes have coax outlets in every room. A home can require anywhere from one to five outlets based on how many rooms require internet, cable, or satellite access. If you want to mount your TV on a wall as part of a home renovation, consider installing a new outlet to avoid the need for a splitter or long cable that could slow down speeds.

A two-way switch is also called a single-pole or single-throw switch. These switches only have an on-and-off function and only control a single light or series of lights wired together. A three-way switch has no “on” or "off” position and works with a second switch in the circuit to control a single light or light series from two locations.

The most common type of electrical outlet is a 3-prong outlet, which has two flat blades (one is wider than the other) and a round grounding pin. Older homes typically have 2-prong outlets that aren’t as safe as more modern options and are generally not up to current electrical codes.  Other outlets you can find in your home include 20A, 125 volt varieties for larger appliances like refrigerators or washing machines.

There are also GFCI outlets, which protect against electrical shock in wet areas, such as bathrooms and kitchens, and arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) outlets, which protect against electrical fires caused by arcing.
