"We got our kitchen backsplash replaced and Luciano was a hard worker. One suggestion is for him to be a little better at communicating, like asking us to check his work so we can let him know if we wanted a tile switched (which we still did check and had one switched out because it was chipped). But overall our backsplash looks great and I recommend them!"

"I canâ t say enough good things about Zack and his crew . My wife and I had some kitchen tiles that were in need of repair and Zack reached out to us immediately and met with us the same day. He immediately identified our problem and discussed with us the best way to go about repairing our tiles and within a day we had our tile fixed ! I would absolutely recommend LionsHeart Tile and Grout to anyone looking for tile repair or new installation."

"Eddy & his Brother William were a god send. The fixer upper that we recently purchased was built in 1985. TPA Flooring Company refinished ugly red parquet floors to a beautiful new warm light brown tone. They then installed new floors that match the color perfectly. They are complete experts at what they do. They kept us updated every step of the way during our remodel process. Simply the best team to work with ever! I donâ t have words for how strongly we would recommend using this Company"

"Nick was the project manager and Luis did the install along with Leo for laminate flooring on top of existing tiles on the entire lower level of our house. Amazing customer service from the initial scheduling date until project completion. "This is not your run of the mill construction company. They are the real deal." Started and finished in less than 2 days with amazing communication. Everything was cleaned up upon completion. Nick stopped in several times each day to watch progress. I cannot express how pleased we are with Beaver's Construction!!"

"After three disappointing experiences with contractors, including Home Depot, I was recommended pros home services LLC for my newly built home. They promptly addressed an incorrectly installed, and unsafe, entertainment wall, ledger by tearing it down, repairing the wall, and replacing it with new Leger. They also installed matching Leger as a backsplash, and above my countertops to the ceiling, and on my built-in bar area shelves. Additionally, they constructed three ship black walls, hung pictures painted installed lights and fans and corrected poorly, hung lights and fans from previous contractors. After wasting time and money on unreliable contractors, I now trust only Home prose services LLC with my home. I highly recommend them to save others from similar frustrations."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

When choosing between porcelain and ceramic tile, the best option depends on your specific needs, budget, and project application. Porcelain tile is generally more durable, denser, and harder than ceramic, making it a good choice for busy, high-traffic areas. It also offers superior moisture resistance, making it ideal for moisture-retaining spaces. However, porcelain is typically more expensive, and its hardness can make it brittle, potentially causing it to crack if a heavy object is dropped on it. In contrast, ceramic tile is a more budget-friendly option with lower material and installation costs. It is softer and easier to work with, making it a great choice for DIY projects. While not as durable as porcelain, ceramic is still a quality material suitable for many home applications, particularly small, decorative projects.

Yes, but you’ll have to use some other type of tool to avoid damaging the tile and possibly injuring yourself. Some alternatives to tile cutters include a glass cutter, angle grinder, and wet saw. Depending on the tile material, you might simply be able to measure and score it with something sharp, like a carbide-tipped pencil, and break it off. Be sure to sand the edge for a smooth installation.

Yes, provided you aren’t installing drywall over it. But you can skim coat it, apply new tile right on top, paint it, or stencil it. For more budget- and DIY-friendly options, you can install beadboard or apply decals. Just make sure that the current tiles are in good condition and prepped well for the paint or adhesive to stick.

To make a bathroom look bigger, choose light-colored, medium- to large-format tiles. Light colors such as white, cream, or light gray make a space feel more open, while dark colors, busy patterns, and small tiles can make a bathroom feel smaller. It may seem counterintuitive, but small tiles can shrink a room visually due to the increased number of grout lines. Using medium- to large-format tiles creates a more seamless look. For the best effect, pair your light-colored tiles with a matching or similarly colored grout. This minimizes the grid-like pattern and gives the floor and walls a more continuous, uninterrupted appearance, helping the room feel significantly larger.

It’s easiest to start from an edge as it gives you a straight line. A problem may arise if your edge doesn’t line up perfectly, in which case it’s best to start from the center. Some think that starting tile from the center adds a focal point in the center of the hearth.
