"Appreciated their services so much - we confidently used them twice! We utilized Alpha Foundations in 2023 for the repair of a segment of our house that had a faltering foundation. We are utilizing them again in 2024 for the installation of a encapsulation system under our crawlspace. They were friendly, honest, and professional. Thank you to Johnny and Jacob for the great inspections and to Keith, Migue, Matt, Antione, and Jacob for the excellent execution. We are happy to to have a stable foundation once again!"

"Andrew and his crew did a fantastic job installing my new paver patio and fire pit. They tied the new patio into my existing patio while keeping the level perfect. They installed a retaining wall on my sloped yard to keep the patio solid and stable as well. Andrew and his crew were very polite and hardworking. I would definitely use Andrew and Elite Outdoor Space"

"They were quick to quote me with a competitive price and fit me into their schedule much earlier than anticipated. Knocked my project out in a couple hours and I couldn't be happier. Thank you!"

"This contractor was able to pour the concrete slabs for me as well as build a 30 x 26’ garage. Everything was to our standards and took time, but it came out great matching her house. The entire crew and management was very respectful and kind. I plan on using them again in the future for my future projects, pouring concrete and gazebo patio build."

"It’s a pleasure to write this review of C & L Landscaping. Our property was once an eyesore with no curb appeal, no usable living space, and an uprooted driveway. Now, it’s a delight to come home to. A beautiful paver driveway, sidewalk, a new lawn and edging around thoughtful landscaping highlight the front of our house. The once overgrown backyard now boasts an incredible paver patio looking out on a serene natural area of trees and grasses. The new irrigation system will ensure the beauty of the landscape for years to come. Also reflected in this five-star review is the experience we had working with C & L. To say they were accommodating is an understatement. Each and every individual we interacted with was personable, knowledgeable, sensitive to our needs and wishes, prompt and most importantly, communicative. We couldn’t be more pleased and recommend their services to anyone contemplating landscape and/or hardscape projects."

"Hired Florida Crete to build a 28x40 building foundation with stem wall at 12" to 36" over 40' run. Mr Diaz and his crew are probably the most hard working men I have ever hired for a project. They were all about contructing to my satisfaction. The completed project was perfectly square. Thanks again to Florida Crete for a very well done job. 5 STARS"

"Holiday's did an excellent job overhauling my front flower beds, which had become too much for me to handle. After establishing my needs and wants, they produced a low-maintenance design and detailed proposal in a timely manner, and they responded quickly to my questions. The job itself involved removing large, pest-ridden shrubs and palms, including all their root systems, and replacing them with various succulents. After re-laying the irrigation system, they set the plants off with coquina boulders and crushed coquina. They also included two large colourful pots with perennials, which were connected to the irrigation system. The crew worked hard, and the supervisor knows his plants. Overall, I'm very happy with my new-look front yard (the neighbors like it, too). I can recommend Holiday's as a reliable and knowledgeable landscaper."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Granite is the strongest commercially available stone houses are built from. It’s also more commonly available, which means transport costs aren’t as high because a granite quarry isn’t too far from a build site. Limestone and sandstone are popular materials as well, but they aren’t as strong or weather-resistant as granite.

Spalling brick is not uncommon, but it does indicate a serious issue. It can be caused by water damage, an intense freeze-thaw cycle, or something else. Painted bricks can be susceptible to spalling, as the paint doesn’t allow the porous material of the brick to breathe, which can trap moisture. Spalling should always be addressed immediately before more serious structural damage occurs.

Yes, you can enlarge windows in a brick house. Your masonry contractor will need to cut away exterior brick to make space for the larger window, and you may also need to consult a structural engineer to make sure the window is properly supported inside the frame of the house.

Masonry is an umbrella term that involves adhering individual building materials together using an adhesive, so many different things are considered masonry. These include constructing stone or brick walls or facades, installing stucco siding, installing backsplashes or tile floors, and even installing glass block windows, in some cases. Masonry materials include natural stone, clay bricks, concrete bricks, glass blocks, and tiles.

The best tool for drilling into brick or mortar is a rotary hammer drill which is a large hammer drill with low rotation speed and high torque. Regular drills with a hammer function are also excellent tools for drilling into brick when the diameter of the hole is 1/2 inch or less. It might be possible to drill into brick with a standard drill if you’re only drilling a very small hole, but note that masonry work will put a lot of wear on a standard drill, and the tool may not be strong enough to get through brick.
