"His inspection turned up a water leak in the chimney that could have entered the walls if not caught in time. The original home inspection prior to purchasing the home wasn't as thorough. Sweep Across the Bay went up on the roof and discovered that the chimney cap was missing (can't be seen from the ground), which had probably blown off during one or more storms."

"Excellent work, very professional. Took pictures to explain the work needed to be done, as well as the completed project. First day did inspection and estimate for repair work as well as cleaning the chimney and dryer vent. Took 3 additional days to complete the repair work. Everything spelled out beforehand. Would absolutely hire again."

"Great experience with Dan. He performed an inspection of my chimney. The inspection was very detailed with photos. He provided an estimate for repair. I have not been able to find a company to repair chimneys in 4 years in my zip code. So, when the inspector said the chimney is no longer structurally sound ... then you get it fixed. Line item Maintenance has an awesome team. I met a very personable and professional named Joel who gave me a run down of what was next. The team doing the stucco is on my roof at this time. I would highly recommend having your chimney inspected by this reliable company. And, should repairs be necessary, I recommend using them. It’s been a pleasure working with Line Item Maintenance."

"I had Chimney Sweep Pros come out to clean our dryer vent, and I?m so glad I chose them! They were punctual, professional, and did a very thorough job. They showed me the buildup that had been causing longer drying times and explained how important it is for preventing fire hazards ? something I hadn?t even realized. Not only is my dryer working better than ever, but I also feel much safer knowing everything is cleaned properly. The technician was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole process easy and stress-free. Highly recommend Chimney Sweep Pros for anyone needing dryer vent maintenance ? truly top-notch service."

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

Fall is widely considered the best time of year to replace a roof. The moderate temperatures are ideal for roofing crews to work and for new shingles to seal properly. Additionally, autumn weather is often drier, reducing the risk of weather-related delays compared to the rainier spring season.

While spring is also a viable option, the higher chance of rainfall can slow down the project. The main drawback to a fall installation is that it's the peak season for roofers, which can lead to higher prices and scheduling challenges.

To potentially save money, you could consider scheduling your roof replacement during the summer or winter off-seasons. However, both seasons have significant disadvantages. Extreme summer heat can make shingles too soft to handle, while winter's cold, snow, and ice can create dangerous working conditions and prevent shingles from sealing correctly, as they typically require temperatures above 40-45°F.

Roof raking can damage shingles if improperly done. Be sure to use a rake that’s designed specifically for removing snow from a roof, and don’t use excessive pressure. Light, consistent pressure to pull down the bulk of the snow is all that’s needed—if you clear right down to the shingles, you’re probably using too much force and risking roof damage.

Hail damage is bad for a roof because it can leave the roof vulnerable to the elements. Hail may leave more than dents or scratches behind. It can actually cause the shingles to crack, which means water can leak into your home from the roof. Hail can also wear down the granules on the shingles. Without these granules, the shingles are weaker and more vulnerable to the elements, particularly wind. If the hailstorm is accompanied by high winds, it may take your shingles with it.

There are several signs that indicate you’ll need new underlayment. Clear signs include missing or damaged roofing and exposing the underlayment to the elements. Additionally, if you notice water damage in your home by the roof after a storm, it could indicate that your underlayment may need to be replaced. If your gutters aren’t draining properly, it could also lead to rotting or water damage to the underlayment.

Yes, a roof blister can cause a leak if it gets to the point where it pops. Prior to popping, a roof blister is just an aesthetic issue, but once it pops, you’re left with a small hole in the shingle. Water from rain and snow can easily get inside this hole and interact with your underlayment, roof decking, and the building material below.
