"I had wainscoting done in my dining room and shiplap on my entry wall. The whole project was only 3 days and its beautiful. Ken called me within a day of me putting in a request on angie's list and within a week they were able to start. Joe did all the carpentry work and I am super impressed with how it turned out. Elliott came and painted all the shiplap, wainscoting and above the wainscoting. His attention to detail was a amazing. I cannot thank them enough. I have already gotten so many complements on both. They are super great!"

"Andy was very communicative. He was able to come and give a more than fair quote for the work I needed done. What I truly appreciated was his determination to provide high-quality work. He used top-notch materials and made sure everything was sturdy and secure. The repaired baseboard now looks even better than before, thanks to his attention to detail. I have since hired him for some painting I needed done and he also has been keeping up my lawn. He and his crew have earned my business for life."

"This 70+ yr old table needed refinishing due to neglect as well as sitting in water during a hurricane flood. It was refinished to perfection! Beautiful wood on top and the legs look unblemished. Would do it again!"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Converting a carport into a garage can vary in difficulty depending on its configuration, the condition of the foundation or slab, and its location relative to the house. The process has a lot in common with a home addition, but you can often skip non-essential finishes like fine flooring, trim work, or even drywall and HVAC. The conversion requires experience with drywall, insulation, and other building materials to ensure it’s done safely and correctly. While it might be possible for a DIYer with the proper tools and skills to do the work, it is a complicated and potentially dangerous job. If you’re new to basic construction, it's best to leave this project to the professionals.

Building a barndominium means converting a barn into a house. Barndominiums are becoming popular as spacious and stylish alternatives to typical housing structures. Old barns that become houses traditionally consist of wooden construction. However, newer structures, such as pole barns, often contain metal exteriors and roofs. Converting a metal outbuilding into a house presents an excellent opportunity to create a barndominium from metal.

Homeowners can increase the usefulness of their garage space in other ways, and one option is to extend the length of the garage by making it deeper. The process is similar to traditional garage extensions, but the end product is a garage with a different layout rather than additional parking spaces.

When deciding whether to use nails or screws for framing, the specific needs of the project must be taken into account. Nails have long been the go-to option for framing due to their affordability, ease of installation, and ability to withstand shear forces. They are perfect for structural framing projects where fast assembly is essential. In contrast, screws offer exceptional holding power and are particularly useful in situations requiring increased strength and resistance to pull-out forces. For projects that prioritize accuracy and long-lasting quality, screws may be the preferred option, though nails remain a dependable and efficient choice.

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.
