"Phillip completed the job above what expected. He was polite and punctual. In past we have worked with wood and are very fussy. He made a point to make hand rails safe by finishing with extra sanding and making super sturdy. We are elderly and really needed these He communicated when he would arrive and if he had to run an errand which really was so nice. I would rate him as best we ever had.Thank you Phillip. They will be here for years to come"

"Southern Rust Woodworks has the best custom built products around. I have several pieces he has made for me, and I get asked all the time who did them and how to contact him. He can make anything you want! Or if you donâ t have an idea, he has great ideas himself. My house is basically a Southern Rust Woodworks showcase. Love all my pieces and they are excellent quality. Love all his products!!!"

"The trunk was in very bad condition. Eugenio restored the outside and the inside, including building a drawer/shelf that was missing. It took a month longer than originally promised, but the results were worth it. Eugenio was actually recommended to me by another furniture restoration company that was highly rated, but did not restore trunks. While it cost more than I'd like, I was happy with the results.

"Authentic Craftsman was amazing! He was very personable, worked extremely hard and very reasonably priced. I would refer him to all friends and family. He was very thorough and walked me around the house to show me what he completed. I would hire him for other house jobs I need assistance with."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on furniture type, size, complexity, and whether additional modifications are needed.

While it is possible to build a wooden carport yourself, especially if you are skilled in carpentry, professional construction is recommended. Professionals ensure structural integrity, proper anchoring, correct alignment, and the use of quality materials for a stable and durable result.

It’s sometimes safe to replace a load-bearing wall with a beam, but you need a structural engineer to sign off on the project. You’ll also likely have to upgrade to a steel I-beam or another material that’s stronger than wood to maintain the level of support you need without the wall underneath.

Framing is the shell of the house. It includes several steps, including studs, plumbing, and electricity. A professional will ensure the wall frame is secured for the house’s structural integrity.

Framing prices change depending on the material and whether the wall is load-bearing. Most contractors use wood to frame a home, but metal is another popular choice.

For maximum stability, install grab bars on wall studs, as this will adequately support the weight. However, if you don't have access to studs, you can get by with wall anchors. If opting for the latter, choose specialty hollow wall anchors.
