"We were so impressed with the job that Ken did installing wainscoting in our home ! He has such a fine eye for detail and design and is very particular for the quality of workmanship he does. We were also very pleased with Ken communicating to us when he would be arriving and the time needed to complete the project. If you’re looking for outstanding workmanship, reasonable price, helpful suggestions and reliable service, then hire K2 Carpentry - you will be impressed and very pleased with the outcome. We Will definitely recommend Ken to family & friends!!"

"Victor has done an absolutely amazing job on my ball and stick corner chair. It’s from late 1800’s and to say I’m extremely happy about how it turned out would be an understatement! Thank you Victor and Family Furniture antiques in winter park Florida for restoring this piece. It’s an absolute treasure"

"Travis is my answer to my shrub trimming. He came on time and did an excellent job of trimming all our shrubs and cleaned up after. He also expanded our mulch area which had become overgrown."

Small jobs welcome

"These people are ambitious to help solve the problem. Contacted me quickly and arrived fast. They looked over the problem and had the solution to fix it. They were quiet in their work and worked fast in the repair. I was very happy with their work and it was well worth the cost to fix it. Thank you."

"Prism Carpentry is the absolute best! Had my old back splash removed and new tile installed. Also, had two doorway thresholds wrapped in wood with korbels added. Prism Carpentry was professional, respectful to my home, and the work was absolutely stunning. This was not the first project done by Prism in my home. Main bathroom mirror removed with shiplap installed, separate mirrors hung and farmhouse lighting installed. Wainscotting was also installed in main bedroom. I can't say enough about this company. If you need a project done and want quality craftsmanship, call Prism!"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Your local building code will list all the framing requirements for whatever type of structure you're building. Most exterior walls require spacing of 16 inches on-center, while many non-load-bearing interior walls only require 24 inches of spacing. However, there are also varying requirements depending on your construction material, so checking your municipality's rules is essential.

An A-frame home can be cheaper to build than a traditional house, but that is not always a given. Prices can be fairly similar in some cases, depending on the location, design, and necessary site preparation. Costs for an A-frame typically run between $100 to $200 per square foot, which is comparable to the cost of a traditional home. The cost of an A-frame can come in under those numbers if you opt for a prefabricated kit.

The best way to calculate framing costs is by basing your costs on the square footage of your home. On average, framing your home could cost anywhere between $7 and $16 per square foot.

To ensure you don’t go over budget, base your estimates on the higher end of the price range. If you know you’re going to use high-end materials or require a custom or complex build, you might even want to tack on an additional 5% of your budget.

Costs depend on desk size, labor, included features like drawers or motorized height adjustments, and required wall anchoring.

Bump-out additions can extend anywhere from 2 to 15 feet from an existing room. The right size will depend on how you plan to use the new space. For a cantilever bump-out, which doesn't require additional foundation support, the limit is typically 24 inches (2 feet). If a footing and foundation are part of the project, a bump-out can be much larger, even encompassing a whole room. It's also important to remember that many residential properties have limits on the total house size relative to the lot size.
