"A. R. Glass did a fantastic job. Instead of having to replace my windows, they were able to come in and replace the glass for considerable savings. I would definitely have them come again. In fact, I had them come for a second job already."

"Damon is great to coordinate with. He’s kind and funny, accommodating and makes scheduling great. They did a wonderful job replacing the window glass and have a 3 year warranty. I have used them on patio doors in the past as well!"

"Overall the process was pretty painless. My bathroom remodel had been dragging on due to contractor issues so I was ready to get things finished up. Chris came over with another employee (who actually installed the glass later on) and they took measurements. We discussed options and the fact that I wanted the glass to go higher then the average height (72") due to the fact the regular shower head was installed at an abnormal height. We reach a compromise at 78" which actually turned out really nice (it's flush with the top of the door jam) and the fact that the shower door was 30" wide made for a really heavy piece of glass so I'm glad they still got it up the stairs!
It took about a week to get the glass in and that fell over Thanksgiving so had to wait another week to get it installed. Installation took a couple of hours. Shower looks beautiful with brushed nickel finish hardware. I also got the Cardinal 10 protection so hopefully that holds up to keeping the shower glass clean(er).
The main reason I went with this company was that they had one of the lower bids and they only use hardware on the sides of the glass and not the bottom to hold it. You get a really clean look all around the shower with less hardware. Also they didn't have to put any holes in the travertine stone.
Great job, thanks!"

"I called Advanced glass on monday the 7th for a quote for my newly remodeled bathroom. I spoo to Sam over the phone and he gave me a quote how  much approximately it'd cost. The price was reasonable so I requested an appointment to do the measurment. after that Youness came over the next day he took the measurment and gave me the final estimate of $1175, I approved the quote and payed the deposit right away. On the 17th the installers (i guess one of them was albert) came to my house and install the glass shower door in about one hour and a half, and they told me to not use the shower for 24h. Now i'm using the enclosure and it's fine with no issues. the only thing is when i open the door, the water drops from the door, but i guess that has nothing to do with the job they did.

"I immediatly contacted Royal Glass and they quickly scheduled me at a location near my job (Beltsville, MD). The chip repair took about 40 mins and cost $70. I completely forgot to use my Angie's List coupon, so it would've been $25 less! The customer service was EXCELLENT and they even vacuumed the inside of my car free of charge! Ask for Russ....he's the best!

"I purchased 8 glass shelves from River Glass. I first contacted them via email to get an estimate and then placed the order via email. The entire experience was great, though there were a few logistical issues with getting the shelves delivered. Approximately two weeks after my order an employee called me and said they were ready and would like to deliver them today. Him and I worked out a time in the afternoon that would work for me so that I could be home to receive the shelves. Midmorning the delivery driver called me and said that he was on the way to my house to deliver the shelves and that he would be there in 20 minutes. I told him that another employee and I agreed that the shelves would be delivered in the afternoon when I would be home. The delivery drive at first was not ok with this arrangement and said that he was in the area and needed to deliver these now and that if I wasn't home he could just leave them on my door step. I was not comfortable with this arrangement because they were expensive pieces of glass and they were very fragile. He told me that he would have to call his supervisor and he would call me back. After waiting a couple of hours without hearing from the driver I went home for the originally scheduled delivery and the shelves were delivered at the tail end to slightly after the delivery window. This caused a minor headache on delivery day but other then that I had a great experience with River Glass and the quality of the shelves is awesome. Their price was much better than any other estimate I received."

"It was an overall great experience!! I called old line glass explaining my dilemma. They came to give me an estimate 2 days later. The best part of all was they were able to do most of the work that same day. I thought they were going to have to order glass or at least the screens, but to my surprise he cut the glass right then and there and made the screens. Very happy would definitely recommend them."

"I called and he was able to come right away and pick up the table.  Promised to have it ready in one week, and true to his word, had it back the following Saturday.  Delivered the table, and reinstalled the medicine cabinet mirror.  I am very pleased with the service and the job.  Would recommend him and would use him again.

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

Although glass block windows are made of multiple layers of thick glass, they can still break. If an individual block shatters, it can be removed and replaced, but this is a job for a window repair professional. The project is often complex and may require breaking the block further for removal. Do not attempt to handle it yourself, as the broken glass can be dangerously sharp. A professional will have the necessary tools and expertise to replace the broken glass block quickly and safely. Before hiring, confirm that the repair pro has experience with this specific type of window.

Glass block mortar is the best choice for glass block window units. It is specifically formulated for glass block window installation. Glass block mortar is usually a mixture of Portland cement, sand, and special chemicals. It is a white mortar that is applicable inside and outside your home. Do not use regular tile mortar because it may not have the binding strength and flexibility required for glass block windows.

You can still see vaguely into some types of glass block windows at night. Although there won’t be clear definitions, passersby may still see shapes, shadows, and movement through the glass. If you want complete privacy, consider installing diamond glass block windows rather than the typical clear or wavy glass blocks.

Glass block windows aren’t fire hazards; fire-rated glass block windows can increase your home’s fire safety. Modern glass blocks are made with materials that can resist high temperatures and prevent fire spread. Most offer a 45-minute fire rating, while some increase it to two hours. Compared to the typical 20 to 90 minute rating for a double-pane window, glass block can increase your home’s safety in the event of a fire.

Glass block installation can be relatively expensive due to the range of material costs and the labor time to assemble this type of specialty window. The process proceeds slowly as the glass does not absorb moisture from mortar and silicone caulk takes longer to harden, leaving spacers to hold up the structure until the caulk or mortar begins to cure. Plus, if your current windows have structural issues or damage, you’ll need to repair them before beginning the project, increasing your bottom line.
