James and his crew are amazing! They are honest, trustworthy, and fair. I got ripped off by another company that had extremely poor workmanship. I called Jim and explained the issue and he sent his crew to fix it the next day. I want to thank him from the bottom of my heart for his help with this issue. I feel so much better now that the hole in my roof has been repaired the right way.

5 different sunroof companies refused to repair my damaged glass roof. I also had a handyman who tried to insert plexiglass which did not solve the problem, but "Jim McMillan Contracting" are the heros. They took Ingenuity to another level and solved my problem. No more broken windows .. or leaks. Job complete.

Jim was great, he went over the issues with the chimney and fireplace and gave me several options at different price points. The guys that did the work on the chimney sent pictures of the work progressing and the finished job. Now the chimney and damper and fixed and the fireplace is in good working order. Overall a really good experience and I would absolutely recommend.

I had high hopes when I hired James to address the issues with my chimney. He came across as knowledgeable and enthusiastic about delivering a solution that would exceed my expectations. However, my experience has left me deeply unsatisfied and compelled to share this review to warn others who may be considering his services. My house, built in 1947, lacks a fireplace, with the chimney primarily serving as a flue for the gas furnace. The top portion of the chimney, approximately 3 feet from the roofline up to the cap, displayed visible signs of damage, with cracks and moss growth. Before choosing James, I obtained another estimate with a lower cost, but I opted for Jim because he was listed on Angie's List, had positive reviews, and was a licensed contractor. However, I believe I made a costly mistake. The price I paid, $4500, was considerably high for the resulting work that was done. To my dismay, the original bricks were not replaced, and the chimney crumbling appearance was not addressed, leaving it looking uneven and wavy. According to my Ring camera, the work crew spent only 2 half days on the project, which makes the price even more concerning. On the first day, I noticed mortar splashed on the side of my house, front door, and patio, with cement ending up in my gutters. Despite my concerns, the cleanup was hasty and incomplete. Jim assured me that it would be addressed, but I later learned that it was not . Additionally, the flashing does not look like it was replaced and there is no warranty on the work. My biggest disappointment came when Jim suggested waterproofing the entire chimney for a total price of $7500. I declined this offer, given the lack of a warranty and the high price of 'repairing' my chimney just from the roofline. In summary, my experience with James left me dissatisfied and feeling like I paid a premium for subpar work. The chimney should have been completely redone at the price I paid, and the end result did not live up to my expectations. I strongly advise considering local contractors or seeking additional estimates before choosing James team for your project.
