"Mark was wonderful to work with from start to finish. His crew was great, work has been fantastic. We had old wood siding with lots of holes, old windows and door. All were replaced. There was one minor issue shortly after install that he took care of immediately. I would highly recommend!"

"We had Sensible Home Products come back to our house and did more work. We only wanted to hire them. Their work and team are phenomenal. They did my paver walkway and stone patio. They also did a stone facade in my patio with a Provia door. I would absolutely rehire them again. We won’t use anyone else."

"I was very impressed with David's responsiveness and every member of his crew was a pleasure. They completely removed the kitchen floor (and several layers of subfloor) in my 100+ year-old home, made repairs to floor joists and installed new flooring that looks beautiful. It was an evolving project and I appreciated the team's flexibility and speed with which they completed the project."

Eifs Installers questions, answered by experts

Basements are generally required to have windows for your safety. At a minimum, windows should provide an egress in the event of a fire. But basement windows do more than offer a way out; basement windows also offer natural light and ventilation in an area of your home that is otherwise dark and musty.

An egress window is similar to a regular window. However, this type of window opens fully to allow people to escape the home or rescue personnel to enter the home if an emergency occurs. Egress windows are required in all finished basements before they can be considered a living space.

Yes, egress windows must meet local building codes for size and accessibility. Professional installers ensure compliance.

There are a range of egress window types available, including:

  • Single-hung: $100–$400

  • Double-hung: $250–$500

  • Horizontal/sliding: $150–$800

  • Casement: $200–$500

  • In-swing: $350–$700

When choosing a type of egress window, consider how you’d like to open it. For example, double-hung egress windows open from top to bottom and let plenty of fresh air in, whereas sliding windows slide open for easy access.

Most modern egress windows installed in basements open outward into a window well, although some older homes have in-swing windows. Egress windows, like casement windows used in other parts of the home, such as bedrooms and bathrooms, may open inward, and these windows are often larger than outward-opening windows.
