"Williams & Associates installed a Buderus oil-fired boiler and stainless-steel chimney liner. Bruce's design was a significant upgrade over my 35-year-old boiler system. He clearly explained the process and installation, and he was receptive to my questions. Bruce is knowledgeable, straightforward, and responsive. The price was very fair, considering the quality of the work and other estimates I had gotten. I would not hesitate to recommend Williams & Associates."

"Juan was great to work with. He efficiently cleaned and serviced our Gas Boiler. He provided some education about the capability and also noted we had a great boiler that was maintaining strong water pressure and temperature. Great service. Price was appropriate for non-emergency level work! I would easily use them again."

"Both of our AC zones had failed. The office staff went over and above to find us a service appointment slot shortly after we called in spite of their having a full schedule that went out 3 weeks. Tyler, the ECM tech, was very professional and capable. He immediately diagnosed the problem and had the system running at peak efficiency a very short time later. Great folks. Would definitely use them again."

Boiler Repair questions, answered by experts

In most cases, repairing a radiator is more affordable than replacing it. A typical repair may cost between $100 and $200, while a replacement can average $1,500, with a range of $250 to $2,500 depending on the unit type. Radiator issues are often simple fixes for a professional, such as a blown fuse, malfunctioning thermostat, or a loose valve, and can take less than an hour. However, if the long-term costs of fixing the radiator are higher than replacement, it's better to get a new model. It is recommended to consult a heating expert to diagnose the problem and determine the best solution for your situation.

Hydronic and standard electric baseboard heaters differ in how they operate, their cost, and their performance. Standard convection heaters use electric coils to heat the air directly, while hydronic heaters warm a contained liquid like water or oil, which then radiates heat into the room.

In terms of cost and efficiency, hydronic heaters usually have a higher upfront price but are more energy-efficient and cheaper to run over time. This is because the heated liquid retains warmth, allowing the heater to continue providing heat for a while after the thermostat turns it off. In contrast, electric heaters provide heat more quickly but are less efficient.

Ultimately, the better choice depends on your priorities. If you need a room to heat up fast and have a lower initial budget, an electric heater might be suitable. If long-term energy savings are more important and you don't mind a slower heat-up time, a hydronic heater is likely the better option.

Pipes in your house can freeze after six hours or so if you lose power and temperatures are below freezing. You can prepare for potential power outages by winterizing your pipes with insulation. Also, whenever temperatures drop below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, turn your faucets on very low and leave them dripping until temperatures rise.

If you're often struggling with radiator issues like chilly spots, leaks, or annoying noises, those are common indications that your radiator may need to be replaced. Corrosion, uneven heating, and persistent hissing sounds are common issues as well. When repairs become a regular chore and your home’s energy bills start to rise, a new radiator will bring the comfort and savings you need.

Regular maintenance includes annual inspections, filter changes, and checking for leaks or pressure inconsistencies to improve efficiency and longevity.
