"My old furnace had cracked, and was in desperate need of replacing. I contacted (Bruce) Williams via e-mail, and he replied within hours of my e-mail. He came over to access the situation, discussed a couple options, and said he would send two estimates by that evening. I received the estimates that afternoon, and was very pleased with the quotes. They arrived Monday morning, and by Monday evening I had a brand new Veissmann furnace, installed, up, and running. Bruce and Bill were very pleasant, and meticulous craftsmen. I would without reservation recommend them to anyone needing their services."

"Called the original installers from 12 years ago but they weren’t very responsive. Ray Page responded with same day service and worked with my schedule. They sent text alerts with picture of Scott. Scott has been to my house before to fix Kitchen faucet and garbage disposal. Very professional and nice. This time, he did the big job, replaced the water heater and cleaned up as well. Very reliable service."

"There's really not that much I can say. The two men who arrived both put booties on, which was nice. One of the men ran a test for chlorine (found some) and to determine if I had hard water (I did). Normally I wouldn't have allowed two workers, since I've been burned in the past by theft. It's a common strategy for one worker to turn the water off and while you are watching the man who is doing the inspection and repair work the other is looking for items to hock. But these two seemed honest enough. After all was said and done the disposer was beyond repair -- something had "snapped." The disposer was relatively new so I wasn't about to purchase a new one. The man said he had never seen a disposer vibrate that way, but I had researched it online and it's not too uncommon. ???"

"I have to tell you that this company is well known in Manchester and was extremely professional. They were on time, called ahead and gave an estimated time of installment. Right on the money. I called 6 other companies that gave me an outrageous quote for the Water Heater and installation. This company is direct and does not nickel and dime you at all. Great Job! I would recommend them to anyone that needs an honest business."

"We needed basic maintenance, the first pump out of our new home. The appointment was easy to set up, and the technician arrived right on time. In the end, I'm pretty sure the technician spent more time answering my questions about the tank, water softener drainage, garbage disposal, water usage habits, etc. than actually working on the tank! Incredibly curteous and helpful. Hands down will recommend and use again."

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

Electric water heaters use a high amount of electricity, so they’re best for homeowners who subsidize their electric bill with solar or who live in an area with inexpensive electricity. For others, gas water heaters versus electric water heaters may be the more cost-effective solution, with the added bonus of heating water quickly and efficiently. No matter which you choose, you can lower your water temperature as low as possible to keep costs down.

Due to the high temperature, using stainless steel vent pipes for your tankless water heater’s exhaust vent is best. Also, it is safe to use a flexible vent duct as the exhaust fan. If installing the exhaust fan yourself, make sure you are using heat-resistant silicon to connect the exhaust vent and the duct on your water heater.

Several signs indicate your water heater may be failing or in need of replacement. Key indicators include:

  • Age: A water heater older than ten years is approaching the end of its typical lifespan.

  • Water Quality: If you notice rusty or discolored water from your hot water faucets, or a foul odor similar to rotten eggs or sulfur, it can signal internal corrosion.

  • Unusual Noises: Banging, rumbling, or popping sounds from the tank often mean sediment has built up, causing the unit to overheat.

  • Leaks: Any water pooling around the base of the tank or visible leaks are clear signs of failure.

  • Performance Issues: A decline in performance, such as water not getting hot enough, taking longer to heat up, low water pressure, or decreased efficiency, suggests the unit is struggling.

  • Visible Damage: Obvious rust and corrosion on the exterior of the tank can indicate a more serious internal problem.

While these signs often point to replacement, some issues may be fixable. It's best to consult a professional plumber to diagnose the problem before investing in a new unit.

The good news is that most home warranty plans cover hot water heaters, regardless of whether you have a tank or a tankless model. Your hot water heater should be covered by your home warranty because it's considered an essential home appliance.

Yes, this would be an appropriate choice. In order to comply with the National Electric Code’s rules, you'll need to install a circuit breaker that's 125% larger than the intended load. In this case, you'll multiply 30 amps by 1.25 to find the necessary breaker size. Plugging that equation in for your 30-amp water heater will leave you with a 37.6-amp breaker. If your current water heater keeps tripping the breaker, it might be time to talk to a plumber or electrician about upgrading your water heater's setup.
